With the twenty-sixth overall pick in the 2018 Steven Ridley NFL Mock Draft, the New Orleans Saints select:
Mike Gesicki; Tight End from Pennsylvania State University.
Given the fact that Drew Brees is not getting any younger and the window is going to close faster and faster, it is best to use the time that New Orleans has left with him and nab a red zone target who can also be a huge boost as the passing game as a receiving option. Given that Mike Gesicki’s athleticism is off the charts for a tight end, he would provide an immediate boost to the New Orleans passing game. However…, that is all Mike is likely to provide in year one considering that Benjamin Watson is on a one year rental deal and is a far superior blocking tight end. With Alvin Kamara being the current feature back for the future, blocking is going to be important going forward for Gesicki as I doubt that Sean Payton loves entertaining the idea of constantly using his swing tackle in Bryce Harris; essentially telegraphing the play pre-snap no less. Even so, with that level of receiving capabilities and being a red zone threat no less, Mike Gesicki’s rewards far outweigh his risks in an offense that historically is very kind towards receiving tight ends.
strength in the world means very little if your accuracy is not very good. Knowing this however is why Josh Allen is the number one pick as Dorsey is using 2018 as a redshirt year for Allen to learn the do’s and do not’s of the NFL. Once 2019 is here is where Dorsey and the Browns will hopefully see the fruition of a year’s worth of experience.

IF – AND IT’S A BIG “IF” – Mason Rudolph has a big day versus Baltimore the Steelers may have found theit franchise QB and it isn’t KP8. Mason’s been a hard luck guy since he was deafted and Ben was “insulted.” Ben is no rocket scientist but his physical gifts, history and hope combined to make Rudolph an afterthought for years.. Staing ready to play plus maturity may have combined to make MASON THE successor to Ben the Steelers truly need. If so, it settles a big question for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
