Report: Steelers Trading With Jaguars For K Josh Scobee

The Steelers are finalizing a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars for veteran kicker Josh Scobee according to multiple media outlets.

Scobee has been with the Jaguars since 2004. He’s a very solid veteran kicker. After losing Shaun Suisham to a season ending knee injury, and Garrett Hartley to what was likely a season ending hamstring injury, the team is in need of a healthy, reliable veteran at the position. There is no word yet on what the trade compensation will be from the Steelers, but I can’t imagine it will be much more than a 7th next year. The team already gave their (conditional) 5th (so probably a 4th) to Philadelphia for Boykin.

Scobee is no stranger to Heinz field. He is 5 of 6 at Heinz including the game winner in the 2007 playoff game. He had a bit of a down year last year, and was 3 for 6 on field goals from 50+, 17 for 20 from inside 49, and 20 for 26 overall (76.9 pct.). Josh Scobee is 61.9% from 50 + for his career. Shaun Suisham- 31.3%.

Unless his deal is being reworked, which it may likely be, Scobee currently carries a $3.425 Mil cap hit that the Steelers will be responsible for.
