Steelers 1934 Throwback Jerseys Return This Week

The Steelers will be donning the much maligned “Bumble Bee” jerseys this Sunday against the Detroit Lions. This is the only game that the team will wear the throwback uniforms this season. The uniforms drew a great amount of criticism last season, but at least no one could complain about block numbers for a couple weeks. The uniforms will likely have a warmer reception this year, as Casey Hampton is no longer on the roster. 🙂

Here’s a refresher on the 1934 throwback in case you forgot exactly how they look.

I find it strange that the NFL would put a rule in that basically is going to put the throwback jerseys and third uniform out of business. Might be the last time we see the Steelers in any kind of alternate jersey.

Which rule are you referring to? All I can think of is the safety rule, but I can’t figure out how it could really jeopardize the throwback jersey market.

Theyare only aallowed one helmet during the season. The bucshad to scrap plans for their creamsicle unifirms because the helmet ddidn’t workand they ccan’t have another. Teams like the Steelers and Bills are ok because they have a base colorand can have ddifferentlogos applied to ir

Ah OK, we’re on the same page then. I never knew if teams were going to adjust their helmets graphically to fit within the new rule, or if they’d have to scrap their throwback uniform entirely if it required a helmet change.
