We knew the date was getting close, as the schedule was released on April 9th for the past couple of years. The 4 game schedule typically includes a mix of non-divisional opponents who aren’t terribly far away. Here’s my guess at this year’s opponents-

The NFL has released the schedule for all NFL teams tonight. The Steelers 2014 schedule includes 5 prime time games, the most any team can have without a waiver from the NFL. It also features 10 1:00 pm games, the most 1 o’clock games they’ve had in 4 seasons. Here’s the schedule:

As you might have noticed, the Steelers won’t see a bye week until week 12. That’s the latest that any team can have a bye. The Panthers are the other team to have such a late bye this season. To my recollection, the closest the Steelers have had to such a late bye week in the last 20 plus years was in 2011, when they had a week 11 bye. The NFL will announce the schedules for all 32 teams Wednesday night at 8:00 PM est., live on the NFL Network. It was originally reported last week that the schedules were likely to be released today, but could come as late as tomorrow or Thursday.
Just to recap what we already know, the Steelers will face the Bengals, Browns, Ravens, Texans, Colts, Chiefs, Saints, and Buccaneers at home this season. The team will also face the Bengals, Browns, Ravens, Jaguars, Titans, Jets, Falcons, and Panthers on the road. Which of those games will be at 1:00, after 4:00, or primetime will be disclosed tomorrow.
I know many fans prefer 1:00 pm games, so it will be interesting to see how many there are this year. Last year there were 8. The year before- 6. There were 8 the year before that and 10 the year prior to that.

According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, sources tell him that the NFL is planning on announcing the 2014 schedule on April 22nd. His sources seem somewhat less confident in the article than in the headline, as he adds that the dates may shift to “Wednesday, April 23 or Thursday, April 24”.
We already know that the Steelers will face the Bengals, Browns, Ravens, Texans, Colts, Chiefs, Saints, and Buccaneers at home, and the Bengals, Browns, Ravens, Jaguars, Titans, Jets, Falcons, and Panthers on the road. Hopefully we’ll know the dates by the end of next week.

It was widely believed that the NFL would be releasing the 2014 schedule at the end of this week. This assumption was based mainly on the fact that the league announced the 2013 schedule on Thursday, April 18th of last year. Well, NFL PR man Brian McCarthy announced via Twitter today that the schedule would not be released this week.

Last year’s announcement came a week before the draft. With the draft being pushed back two weeks this year, it seems reasonable to assume that the announcement of the 2014 schedule may follow a similar timeline.

The Steelers will be hosting the Bills this summer for 3 joint practices at Latrobe. This is the 12th consecutive season that the Steelers play the Panthers.
