S Ross Ventrone Carted Off Field After Leg Injury

Steelers safety Ross Ventrone suffered an injury to his right leg during practice today. According to multiple reports, Ventrone was taken to the lockers on a cart.

I think Kaboly meant “shoe”, not show. According to David Todd of ESPN, Ventrone picked off a Ben Roethlisberger pass and the receiver inadvertently dove into Ventrone’s shin. That receiver was Eli Rogers if you’re wondering.

Ventrone was activated from the practice squad last October due to injuries on the active roster. Ventrone never saw playing time on defense, but contributed on special teams.

We’ll have to wait and see how serious his injury is.

Bell, Harrison Miss Practice; Troy, Ike, And McLendon Practice Fully

The Steelers concluded practice without Le’Veon Bell again today. According to NFL Network reporter Adititi Kinkhabwala, Bell said he feels good, but did not try running today. Bell didn’t meet with the media today, but it might have something to do with the Michigan State game.

James Harrison and Landry Jones also missed practice due to illness. Landry Jones was throwing the ball around during practice before Tomlin sent him home. Can’t be too careful this time of year…

Ike Taylor (shoulder/forearm), Troy Polamalu (knee), Michael Palmer (groin), Mike Adams (illness) and Steve McLendon (shoulder) were all full participants today. With Polamalu practicing fully again today, it seems very likely that he’ll be in the lineup on Saturday night. Dick LeBeau said as much earlier today.

Le’Veon Bell’s MRI Reveals No Ligament Damage

The Steelers got some very good news this afternoon. Le’Veon Bell’s MRI showed no signs of ligament damage.

https://twitter.com/SportsCenter/status/549650332415164419

This doesn’t guarantee he’ll play this Saturday obviously, but this is tremendous news after he took such a scary hit to the knee last night.

With hyper-extension injuries pain and swelling is usually worse the day after, so it should be expected that Bell might have difficulty getting around. According to one reporter, he could barely walk earlier today.

The amount of swelling, pain, and stiffness and how Bell’s knee responds to treatment throughout the week will determine whether or not he’ll be able to play on Saturday.

Updates On Le’Veon Bell’s Leg Injury

Le’Veon Bell left tonight’s game early with what looked to be a scary knee injury. As you can see in the picture below.

Afterwards, Bell was able to leave the field on his own, but was pretty distraught on the sideline while trainers looked him over.

After the game, Coach Tomlin relayed some positive news. “Structurally it appears to be fine,” said Tomlin. “Thankfully it doesn’t appear to be anything major.” The team is waiting on MRI results to see if he has any ligament or connective tissue damage. Passing initial stability tests is a good sign of course, though.

According to Dale Lolley, some of his teammates expect to have him on the field for the Ravens game.

After the game, Bell left the lockers without an air cast or crutches, which is very good news.

We’ll have to play the waiting game for a day or two before we hear more.

Here are the Chiefs inactives:

Polamalu, Mitchell, And Spaeth Sit Out For Wednesday’s Practice

Troy Polamalu, Mike Mitchell, and Matt Spaeth were all sidelined today due to injuries they sustained during the Falcons game on Sunday. Polamalu is nursing a knee injury and Mitchell is out due to a groin injury. Tomlin said yesterday that Spaeth hyper-extended his elbow and will have it in a protective brace this week.

Maurkice Pouncey and Ike Taylor were limited today in practice. Pouncey due to an ankle injury, and Ike because of his lingering shoulder and forearm injuries.

Some good news on the injury front- both James Harrison (knee) and Marcus Gilbert (ankle) were full participants today. Tomlin told the media yesterday that Gilbert’s participation in practice would be their guide towards his starting against the Chiefs. If Gilbert finishes the week without any setbacks, you’d have to imagine he’ll start on Sunday.

Marcus-Gilbert

Gilbert Ruled Out; James Harrison Doubtful For Sunday

The Steelers face the Bengals this Sunday in Cincinnati, and they’ll be doing so without starting right tackle Marcus Gilbert. Gilbert has been ruled out for Sunday’s game due to the ankle injury he suffered last week. With Gilbert out, Mike Adams will be starting at RT again this week.

James Harrison, who has missed practice time this week due to a knee injury, is listed as doubtful to play this Sunday. With Harrison out, expect to see Jarvis Jones activated to the active roster. Jones was wearing a new cast today in practice, one that is suited for game play.

The team could be getting starting nose tackle Steve McLendon back on Sunday. McLendon is listed as questionable on the injury report, but did participate fully in this week’s practices. The veteran defensive lineman is coming back from a shoulder injury that has kept him out since the Tennessee Titans game.

Ben Roethlisberger (not injury related), Ike Taylor (shoulder), Cortez Allen (thumb), Brice McCain (hamstring), Troy Polamalu (illness), Ryan Shazier (ankle), and Heath Miller (not injury related) are all listed as probable for Sunday.

Brett Keisel

Brett Keisel’s Teammates Are Saying He’s Done For The Season

Veteran defensive end Brett Keisel left the game early today with what looked like a serious triceps injury. After the game, Coach Tomlin said his tricep was being evaluated, but didn’t have any additional information at the time.

Some of Keisel’s teammates are indicating to reporters that he is done for the year. According to Scott Brown of ESPN, James Harrison flat out said that he is done for the remainder of the year.

According to Chris Bradford of the Beaver County Times, it’s believed that Keisel suffered a triceps rupture.

Ed Bouchette also echoed the news of Keisel being done for the year.

Inactives For Steelers Vs. Saints

With kickoff just over an hour away, the inactives for today’s Steelers/ Saints game have been announced.

For the Steelers:

QB Landry Jones, WR Justin Brown, CB Cortez Allen, CB B.W. Webb, LB Ryan Shazier, OT Marcus Gilbert, and NT Steve McLendon.

The only names on the list that could be considered surprises are Cortez Allen and to a lesser extent, Ryan Shazier. Allen has a cast on to protect a broken thumb that he had surgically repaired recently. Shazier did not seem overly confident earlier in the week that he would be a go for today’s game.

For the Saints:

WR Robert Meachem, RB Khiry Robinson, LB Kyle Knox, OT Nick Becton, DB Terrence Frederick, NT Lawrence Virgil, and DB Stanley Jean-Baptiste.

The Saints recently placed WR Brandin Cooks and NT Brodrick Bunkley on Injured Reserve. NT John Jenkins will start in Bunkley’s place.

Steelers Preseason

Steve McLendon, Cortez Allen Ruled Out For Sunday

The Steelers have released their injury report for the Saints game, and both NT Steve McLendon (shoulder) and CB Cortez Allen (thumb) have been ruled out.

Marcus Gilbert, who missed practice again today with an ankle injury, is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game. LB Ryan Shazier is also questionable with his ankle injury. According to Mike Prisuta, Mike Adams believes he’ll start against the Saints.

Ike Taylor (forearm), Martavis Bryant (illness), Shamarko Thomas (hamstring), and Troy Polamalu (non-injury) are all listed as probable for Sunday.
