Shazier, Spaeth, McCullers Ruled Out For Ravens Game

The Steelers will be without starting inside linebacker Ryan Shazier tonight when they host the Ravens at Heinz Field. Here is the official injury report.

OUT: NT Dan McCullers, QB Ben Roethlisberger, ILB Ryan Shazier, TE Matt Spaeth
QUESTIONABLE: CB Cortez Allen
PROBABLE: OLB James Harrison, Cody Wallace

McCullers has been limited due to a nagging knee injury. Tomlin previously described him as day to day, but the big man will not see any playing time against the Ravens. Ben Roethlisberger’s absence requires no explanation.

Shazier is still dealing with the “stinger” he suffered against San Francisco. Stingers are one of the those vague injuries that can last for minutes or last for weeks depending on the location and severity. According to Coach Tomlin, he is still experiencing weakness and will need to be cleared by doctors before he can return to play.

Spaeth has a hand fracture. Tight End Jesse James will get a helmet tonight in his absence.

For the Ravens:

DE Chris Canty, TE Crockett Gilmore, LT Eugene Monroe and WR Breshad Perriman are all out.

Gilmore and Canty are the only two players who have had any meaningful playing time on the Ravens list this season. Gilmore has started the first 3 games recording 10 receptions for 151 yards and two touchdowns.

Pick up Ray Rice as running back for the play offs!

  • completely agree with the qb, dl & ol needs.i would say the TE need is a solid moderate (sorry to be picky lol) since arnias is fascinated with the position. i would LOVE for us to draft someone to be a good counterpart to miller. maybe i’m just not as familiar with other teams as i am with the steelers, but they all seem to have decent receiving #2 TE. unfortunately, i think the steelers agree with you since TE was only ahead of safety (if a. williams is counted as a CB) and qb in draft prospect visits.
