[Gif] Heath Miller Shields Le’Veon Bell From Cameras

After Le’Veon Bell received a traumatic helmet to helmet blow that rendered him unconscious on the field, Heath Miller showed what Steelers fans already knew- that he’s a class act.

Miller went to the camera man in the endzone and covered the lens with his hand. Afterwards, Heath went right to the referee to get Bell’s helmet. As if you needed another reason to love Heath.

[Gif] Mike Tomlin On Field During Jacoby Jones Punt Return

If you haven’t heard it by now, there was a controversial moment in last night’s loss to the Ravens. Mike Tomlin was stepping on the field while Jacoby Jones was returning a punt. Jones was running down the sideline, and it seemed to some that coach Tomlin may have stepped on the field in hopes to slow him down. Whether or not he did it on purpose is being widely debated. After the game Coach T said, “I always watch the returns on the jumbotron…I lost my placement as he broke free.”  What do you think? Was he trying to slow down Jones, or was he simply distracted and unaware of where he was standing?

The remaining line up of the officiating crew is as follows: umpire Garth DeFelice, head linesman Tony Veteri, line judge Ron Marinucci, field judge Dave Meslow, side judge Greg Meyer, and back judge Terrence Miles.

Blakeman and company are the officials who were the center of national controversy a week and a half ago, after they picked up a flag thrown for pass interference in the endzone during the last seconds of the Patriots/Panthers game. Hopefully tonight’s ending isn’t decided by the officials.

Keisel Probable, Woodley Doubtful For Thursday

Brett Keisel, who has been battling with plantar fasciitis for the past two weeks, is listed as probable for tomorrow night’s game in Baltimore. Keisel has been working his way back and practiced fully yesterday. LaMarr Woodley is listed as doubtful for tomorrow. He was only a limited participant in practice yesterday.

Troy Polamalu Is AFC Defensive Player Of The Week

It’s a good Wednesday in Steeler Nation as another Steelers player has been honored for their play on the field this week. Troy Polamalu has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Browns. Troy recorded one sack against Cleveland, forced two fumbles, and recovered a fumble as well. Troy was a disruptive force all over the field on Sunday- at the line of scrimmage and in coverage. The Steelers reportedly submitted William Gay’s name for consideration as well, but the NFL ultimately chose Polamalu.

The last Steelers player to be named AFC Player of the Month was LaMarr Woodley back in October of 2011.

The Wildcat Makes Joe Flacco Sad

Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco apparently doesn’t like the team’s use of the wildcat. The Ravens used the wildcat on Sunday for a handful of plays. Backup QB Tyrod Taylor was under center for those snaps, and Flacco could be seen lined up at receiver on the outside, looking disinterested with his hands in his pockets.

When asked about his feelings on the wildcat earlier today, Flacco said, “I don’t like that stuff. I’m the quarterback. I want to be behind the line of scrimmage, I want to be taking snaps.” About being lined up at WR he said, “I’m not doing a single thing. I’m not blocking, I’m not doing anything”. Flacco went on to say that he doesn’t like the wildcat and doesn’t expect the Ravens to run it anymore. “It makes you look like a high school offense.”

They say it’s a copycat league, but perhaps a copycat division is more appropriate. I would be surprised if they didn’t run more of it personally. Some news outlets described the Ravens wildcat attempts as ineffective, but the first time they ran it in the first quarter, Taylor broke for a 17 yard gain.
