Troy Polamalu To Miss Pro Bowl Due To Injury

Troy Polamalu, one of 3 strong safeties selected to the Pro Bowl last month, will not be attending after all due to an injury. Many players cite a new “injury” as a reason for declining to go to the Pro Bowl, but ultimately, the team’s medical staff has to sign off on it. There have been no reports of an injury to Troy, and he saw more snaps this year than he has since 2008. He’s probably nursing a minor injury of some sort though, and will be starting his off-season workout regimine in no time.

Polamalu’s absence adds yet another Cleveland Browns player to the Pro Bowl roster. Browns Safety T.J. Ward will take Troy’s place in Hawaii. Antonio Brown is now the only player representing the Steelers in the Pro Bowl this year.

The new Pro Bowl format is non-conferenced, and team captains will pick their rosters starting tonight on the NFL Network. This is an attempt to gain interest from fans, which has been extremely low as of late. I wonder if the NFL has toyed with the idea of having viewers vote on the plays via social media…sort of like a live action Madden. It would probably get more fans interested in the event, though, I’m not sure players would be thrilled about it.

Antonio Brown And Troy Polamalu Selected To 2014 Pro Bowl

The NFL announced the rosters for the 2014 pro bowl today, and both Antonio Brown and Troy Polamalu were selected. Brown was selected both as a wide receiver, and as a punt returner. This is the 2nd pro bowl nomination for Brown, and the 8th for Polamalu. This year, the pro bowl is unconferenced, and the selections are made based on votes from fans, players, and coaches.

Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders will serve as team captains to the two pro bowl teams, and players will be drafted to each team during  a live draft, that will be televised on the NFL network on January 22, 2014. The 2014 Pro Bowl will broadcast live on NBC at 7 p.m on January 26, 2014 from Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Notable snubs: Ben Roethlisberger, David DeCastro. The Steelers had two players selected and the 4-11 Browns get five players selected. Go figure. Maybe there’s a pro bowl version of ‘vote for the worst’.

Troy Polamalu Is AFC Defensive Player Of The Week

It’s a good Wednesday in Steeler Nation as another Steelers player has been honored for their play on the field this week. Troy Polamalu has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Browns. Troy recorded one sack against Cleveland, forced two fumbles, and recovered a fumble as well. Troy was a disruptive force all over the field on Sunday- at the line of scrimmage and in coverage. The Steelers reportedly submitted William Gay’s name for consideration as well, but the NFL ultimately chose Polamalu.

Troy Polamalu On Sesame Street

Troy made a recent appearance with Elmo on Sesame Street. The word of the day is fragrance, and Troy tries to help Elmo find something fragrant. After getting under an onion’s skin, and having his hair friz from the odor of his gym socks, he finally finds something ‘fragrant’ in the end. Troy never disappoints. Enjoy.
