Steelers Thursday Practice Participation Report

It’s looking more and more like Mike Adams will be starting at left tackle this Sunday, as Kelvin Beachum did not practice again today. Steve McLendon also did not participate in practice today due to his ankle injury. David DeCastro was limited in practice today. According to Bob Labriola, there seems to be some hope that DeCastro will be able to play on Sunday. We’ll have a better idea tomorrow of course.

Le’Veon Bell participated fully again today in practice. In regards to Bell, the Steelers PR man Burt Lauten had this to say this afternoon:

Le’Veon Bell has been cleared for full practice, but not to play until passing tests through the weekend. The Steelers medical staff will continue to monitor Le’Veon Bell’s status through the week to make sure he continues without symptoms.”

Bell has passed concussion tests up until this point, but will need to pass medical evaluations this weekend before being cleared to play.

More good injury news: LaMarr Woodley was also a full participant today, coming back from his calf injury. Mike Adams participated fully as well today.

[Audio] Le’Veon Bell: ‘I’m Just Glad To Be OK’

Le’Veon Bell spoke to local media today after practice. Bell looks and sounds much better than you’d expect somebody would after taking such a devastating hit just a few days ago.

Le'Veon Bell Helmet Hit Ravens

“I started feeling better the next day. I kept progressively feeling better.”, Bell said about his recovery. When asked what he thought after seeing a replay of the hit he said, “I’m happy, I’m surprised. It was a bad hit…I mean, I just got lucky. I’m happy nothing serious happened. I’m just glad to be OK.”

What did you think about the touchdown being taken back?

“It’s unfortunate, but it is what it is.”

Bell participated on a limited basis in practice today. In terms of how much he could do today he said, “just what I could do”. You can listen here:

Le’Veon Bell Not Fined For Face Mask Penalty Vs Ravens

The league handed down it’s weekly justice in the way of fines today, and Le’veon Bell was not a recipient. Stevenson Sylvester’s name was also not on that list. Bell was penalized for face masking Ravens corner back Corey Graham in the last couple minutes of the first half. Here’s a gif of that.~

Stevenson Sylvester was also not fined for his hit on Ravens kicker Justin Tucker during an onside kick in the fourth quarter. Here’s a gif of that hit.~

[Audio] Ben Roethlisberger’s Comments On Le’Veon Bell

During an interview earlier this week, Big Ben made some comments about Le’Veon Bell that drew a lot of attention from Steelers fans and the media. I thought it would be a good idea to post the audio from that interview for those who haven’t heard it. The first sound bite below is the excerpt from the interview. The second audio file is the entire interview from ‘The Ben Roethlisberger Show’ on Tuesday.

Wednesday Steelers Practice Participation Report

Some good news on the injury front today.

Full Participation: Le’Veon Bell, Cortez Allen, and Steve McLendon.

Did Not Participate: Brett Keisel (hamstring)

Barring an unexpected setback, it’s looking very good for Bell and Allen to return to the field on Sunday. Keisel injured his hamstring during the Bears game, and McLendon has been battling a nagging hamstring injury, as well.

Steelers Vs Bears Injury Report

The injury report for the Bears game is out, and based on reports, it’s looking more and more like Heath will play on Sunday. He may even start.

Out: Cortez Allen.

Questionable: Le’Veon Bell. Bell practiced again today, and isn’t ruling out playing on Sunday. How his foot responds to today’s practice will be a big deciding factor.

Probable: Curtis Brown, Jarvis Jones, Brett Keisel, Steve McLendon, & Heath Miller.

For the Bears:

Probable: Brandon Marshall, Kyle Long, and Martellus Bennet.

Questionable: Charles Tillman.

Steelers Vs. Titans Injury Report

The Steelers injury report for week one is out and it looks like this:

Out: Le’Veon Bell (foot)

Doubtful: Heath Miller (knee)

Probable: Jarvis Jones (chest), Will Johnson (hamstring), Brett Keisel (not injury related)

Will Johnson has been limited in practice this week due to his hamstring injury. Johnson told media today that he wants to play Sunday, but it will ultimately be Tomlin’s decision. No details were given about Keisel’s situation.

For the Titans:

Out: LB Gooden (ankle)

Doubtful: FB Quinn Johnson (quad)

Questionable: OT David Stewart (calf) and OLB Akeem Ayers (ankle)

Coach Tomlin Rules Out 4 For Preseason Finale

During his press conference earlier today, Coach Tomlin ruled out the following players for Thursday’s game against the Panthers:

Jarvis Jones, Isaac Redman, Le’Veon Bell, and Heath Miller.

Jarvis Jones is recovering from an AC sprain in his chest that he suffered during the game against the Chiefs.

Redman is being held out for precautionary measures. He suffered a stinger on the 15th in practice and hasn’t seen game time since , but the team wants to see more from Stephens-Howling, Dywer, and Felix Jones.

Bell and Miller aren’t expected to return in the immediate future, so ruling them out of this week’s game was certain.

Le’Veon Bell Had MRI Tuesday, No Results Available Yet

The Steelers released a statement regarding Le’Veon Bell’s injury this morning. Coach Tomlin said in the statement that Bell did in fact have a MRI yesterday, but the team is still awaiting the diagnosis. Furthermore, the team is also waiting for the results of a second opinion.  Bell is already ruled out of Saturday’s preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Tomlin added in the statement that he will provide updates when they become available in the next couple days. You can draw your own conclusions, but generally minor sprains do not require second opinions.

Redskins Post-Game Injury Report

During the course of the Redskins game, the Steelers suffered a few injuries. Some very minor, others TBD.

Le’Veon Bell left the game early after a tackle by Barry Cofield, with what’s being called a mid foot sprain. Coach Tomlin said he will get a MRI tomorrow to determine the severity. Not to be an alarmist, but early rumors are that this may sideline him for weeks. Hopefully the rumors don’t prove true.

Terry Hawthorne left the game with leg cramps.

Baron Batch left with a stinger and did not return.

Will Johnson left the game due to a hit to the helmet by S DeJon Gomes. He was said to have suffered a rib injury from the hit and did not return.

I’ll update as soon as I hear an update on Bell and Johnson’s injury.
