Steelers Sign LB Molls And CB Smith To Futures Contracts

While the team hasn’t officially announced it yet, Ed Bouchette reports that the Steelers have signed LB Dan Molls and DB Devin Smith to reserve/futures contracts. Molls confirms it on his Twitter account.

Molls is a 6’0, 238 lb ILB who signed with the Chargers last spring as an UDFA out of Toledo, but didn’t make their final roster. Molls was touted as a run stopper in college, and was the nation’s leading tackler in 2012 with 166.

Devin Smith was originally signed by the Cowboys as an UDFA and later signed with the Steelers during training camp. The team added him to the practice squad at times throughout the 2013 season. He’s considered a solid special teamer. You can see his coming’s and going’s here: http://thesteelersfans.com/?s=Devin+Smith

Steelers Place C. Brown On IR, Make Other Roster Moves

The team has placed CB Curtis Brown on Injured Reserve today. Brown suffered an ACL injury on Sunday, and Coach Tomlin announced yesterday that he was done for the season. To fill the available roster spot, the team has promoted CB Isaiah Green from the practice squad as I expected.

CB Devin Smith has been signed to the available practice squad opening. Smith was brought in by the team during training camp and has been on and off the practice squad this season. You can see more about his comings and goings here: http://thesteelersfans.com/?s=Devin+Smith.

Steelers Sign CB Devin Smith To Practice Squad

The team announced that they have re-signed CB Devin Smith to the practice squad. Smith was originally signed by the team in August and released during the final preseason roster cuts. He was then signed to the practice squad, but waived a few days later.

Smith (5’10” 182) was released in August by the Cowboys, who originally signed him as an UDFA in April. He was not invited to the Combine, but ran a 4.49 40yd at his pro day at Wisconsin.  Smith was viewed as a nickel corner by scouts, and was said to be a strong Special Teams player who could fill in at Safety.

Steelers Practice Squad: CB Smith Waived, CB Green Added

The Steelers have made another practice squad move today by waiving CB Devin Smith and adding CB Isaiah Green. Green was signed to the 53 man roster on Saturday and cut on Monday. Green cleared waivers yesterday, and this isn’t a surprise move by any stretch of the imagination. Expect more practice squad moves in the not so distant future.

Steelers Sign RB Alvester Alexander & CB Devin Smith, Waive Curtis McNeal & Cordian Hagans

The Steelers announced today that they have signed Running Back Alvester Alexander and Cornerback Devin Smith. RB Curtis McNeal and DE Cordian Hagans were released to make room on the roster for them.

Devin Smith (5’10” 182) was released last week by the Cowboys, who signed him as an UDFA in April. Smith, who was not invited to the Combine, ran a 4.49 40 at his pro day at Wisconsin.  Smith was viewed as a Nickel Corner by scouts, and was said to be a strong Special Teams player who could fill in at Safety.

Alvester Alexander was originally signed by the Bears last year as an UDFA out of the University of Wyoming, and spent time on the Colts practice squad last season. He was released by the Titans in July. He declared for the draft a year early. His best season at Wyoming was his sophomore year, where he rushed for 792 yards, and 14 TD’s. Alexander by the numbers: 5’10”, 206, 4.39 40.
