L Bell has the patience to get some yards but there haven't been many holes for him to hit this season.

Is it injuries effecting cohesion on the OL?
A particular player(s) that isn't getting any push?
Wrong play calling allowing the defense to stack the box?
TE's not contributing effectively in blocking or being asked to block one-on-one?
    Just a mixture of above?

DeCastro is not the same player he was before the contract. He's pulling a "Woodley."

I feel like the left side, with Alejandro and Foster, is the better part of the line. The mid-right seems weak this year for some reason.

Sad because DD and Gilbert were rock solid last year.

I think Heath was a much better blocker than I ever guessed (and I was his biggest fan). This line looks pedestrian without him.

Heath was our MVP on offense besides Ben. I'm talking overall. Safety blanket, great blocker, doesn't whine, usually healthy.

That great counter play we ran down a couple team's throats (at Cincinnati cones to mind) with Heath and Decastro pulling out in front was a thing of pure beauty. I don't remember seeing it once this year without Heath.

I could have swore that a few times if Bell would have just ran to and thru the hole against Dallas instead of dancing every time he would have gotten a lot more yards.

I think the line tries to match Pouncey and it creates problems because the aren't quite as athletic as he is. If Munch takes them back to school and tells them win the 1st battle and then maybe the second the run game will flourish more. They don't have to run down field with Bell just rip open the hole and let the rest of the guys execute .

Just how long can we blame the Oline for bells problems? D Will didnt have any problems running behind this line for 4 games, if bell is trying to make a statement for a new contract he is going in the wrong direction.........

L Bell needs to hit the hole immediately sometimes

    it can't always be
    dance dance run

he missed some good openings recently

i believe defenses are anticipating him to hesitate and they fill the gap they expose

Easy to think that while watching on TV. Only way to know for sure is to view the all 22 for that play. It's impossible to know these things from the angles we see. There was a thread in the other team talk forum, it was about TRich. One of the posts had a video of him running into a wall for a gain of 2-3 yards instead of taking a huge hole on the other side of the line. He got blasted for lack of vision and people claimed he could have walked in for the TD. While in reality, if you looked at the all 22 (which I believe I posted in there), you could then see there were 2 defenders right there ready to attack that gap and he would have been stopped for a loss. TV is deceiving.

Unfortunately I can't find that thread because it's too old. Maybe @TerribleTowelFlying can dig it up, not sure.

Week 1 vs Washington. DWill had a 5.5 ypc.
Week 2 vs Cinci. DWill had a 2.94 ypc
Week 3 vs Philly. DWill had a 2.63 ypc.

You call that good? Week 1 was very good, weeks 2 and 3 were terrible.

Week 4 vs KC. Bell had 8 ypc
Week 5 vs NYJ. Bell had a 3.3 ypc
Week 6 vs Miami. Bell had 5.3

I won't post the rest but they are all under 4 ypc, which is kind of the measuring stick. The rushing numbers haven't been good for either RB this year, except for 3 games, 2 by Bell and 1 by Dwill.

It's funny how people perceive things when the reality is something completely different
