Shazier, Zumwalt, And Bucannon Have Pre-Draft Visits With Steelers Today

The Steelers are hosting LB Ryan Shazier (Ohio State), LB Jordan Zumwalt (UCLA), and S Deone Bucannon for pre-draft visits today.

The Steelers met with Zumwalt at the Combine. Oddly enough, Shazier said that he already had a visit with the Steelers. I know a lot of energy goes towards the Steelers taking a tall WR or the top CB available in round one, but don’t be surprised if Shazier is the Steelers first pick.

Zumwalt is a bit over aggressive at times, and will need to add weight to his 6’4″ frame when he gets to the NFL. He’s likely a mid round prospect. Here’s a gif of him cleaning Logan Thomas’ clock.

Here’s Shazier and Zumwalt sharing a table at Primanti Bros.

Deone Bucannon might be one of the hardest hitting safeties in this draft class. I could probably fill this post with youtube “hit clips” featuring him drilling someone. While being known as a violent hitter, he also has a nose for the ball. The former Washington State defensive back had 15 interceptions during his career there. Here’s a couple games of him in action. Thanks for stopping by, and as always, share with your friends.

Coach Tomlin held his weekly press conference today. He talked about the win against the Lions, gave updates on Steelers injuries, spoke about the upcoming match against the Browns, running the no-huddle and much more. You can listen below.

Steelers Vs Bills TV Distribution Map

The Steelers host the Buffalo Bills at Heinz Field on Sunday. Kickoff is at 1:00 Est., and the game will be televised on CBS with Marv Albert and Rich Gannon as commentators for the game. Scott Green and his crew will officiate. This is almost the five year anniversary of the Chargers game where Green was involved in a controversial review that kept a Troy Polamalu touchdown off the books.

Sunday’s game against the Bills won’t be broadcast to much of the country as you can see in the map below.

Bill Cowher Dons Eyeliner In Music Video Appearance

Coach Cowher is seen sporting “Manliner” in a recently released music video titled “Cry Your Eyes Out”. The video is preformed by his girlfriend ‘Queen V’ and can be seen below. There’s a good closeup of “The Chin” at around 1:10 into it. While he does manage to pull off the goth-peasant look, I prefer him in a headset and black turtle neck personally. 🙂

Ryan Clark, Bettis To Be Contributors On ESPN

Starting this September, Jerome Bettis will be joining ESPN as a NFL analyst. The Bus already hosts his own show on WPXI on Saturdays. The season is scheduled to premiere September 7th at 7:00pm.

Also joining ESPN as a contributor is Steelers Safety Ryan Clark. Clark has made appearances on ESPN in the past, most notably on First Take, and expressed interest in a possible career in broadcasting after football. At the Super Bowl, he went as far as asking an ESPN producer if he could intern there.

“Whatever you need me to do, I will do. I want to be an ESPN NFL intern.”

The exact details of Clark’s involvement weren’t immediately available, but he will reportedly be an in-season and off-season contributor.

Jonathan Dwyer Will ‘Make Mouths Drop’ At Camp

Dwyer was under a lot of criticism this spring for appearing to be overweight at OTA’s. Not helping that perception, Isaac Redman was looking to be in the best shape of his career. It goes without saying that during an offseason when the team spends a second round pick on a back like Le’veon Bell, you want to show up looking hungry and indispensable if you’re a Restricted Free Agent. The Updates Are Finished

Sorry for the downtime this afternoon. As you can see, the home page has been changed. This was long overdue as I’m sure many of you will agree. Due to some unexpected obstacles today, there will be a little minor work in progress needed aesthetically to finish the main page. The forum is exactly the way it was earlier today. The only updates made there were under the hood, so everything will appear as it usually does. Thanks for being patient.

Coach Tomlin Press Conference Notes 11/27/12

The presser started with a quick review of Sunday’s performance. Coach T said it was a failure and still looked that way yesterday on tape. ‘Very rarely do you lose a game and just be able to so clearly point to a few areas of failure being the reason why you lost.’ Tomlin said there were two main reasons for the failure: turning the ball over and being highly penalized on offense.

“Very rarely are there such extreme failures in those areas.”  Continue reading
