Will Johnson Suffered The Only Injury In Game 4

The only injury reported from tonight’s preseason loss against the Panthers was a hamstring injury to Will Johnson. The severity isn’t yet known, and Coach Tomlin said he was being evaluated. Johnson was seen with his right hamstring iced and wrapped on the sideline during the 1st quarter. He’s was ruled out shortly after and did not return to the game.

Coach Tomlin Rules Out 4 For Preseason Finale

During his press conference earlier today, Coach Tomlin ruled out the following players for Thursday’s game against the Panthers:

Jarvis Jones, Isaac Redman, Le’Veon Bell, and Heath Miller.

Jarvis Jones is recovering from an AC sprain in his chest that he suffered during the game against the Chiefs.

Redman is being held out for precautionary measures. He suffered a stinger on the 15th in practice and hasn’t seen game time since , but the team wants to see more from Stephens-Howling, Dywer, and Felix Jones.

Bell and Miller aren’t expected to return in the immediate future, so ruling them out of this week’s game was certain.

Steelers Will Make Roster Cuts Today

The Steelers will announce early roster cuts today, ahead of the Tuesday deadline. All teams are required to cut their 90 man roster down to 75 by 4:00 PM Est. on Tuesday, August 27th. Some teams have already gotten started today, and the Steelers are expected to be down to 75 by nightfall. While it’s hard to predict exactly who will be eliminated during the first round of cuts, some names you might expect to see on today’s list are-  WR Tyler Shaw, RB Jeremy Wright, DB Devin Smith, TE Peter Tuitupou, OT Guy Whimper, OG Golic Jr., OT Batiste among others. I’m not saying all those players will be cut, just don’t be surprised if they are. Don’t be surprised to see an injury waiver, as well. I’ll post the official list once it becomes available.

Jarvis Jones Leaving Hospital This Afternoon

According to ProFootballTalk, Jarvis Jones will be released from the hospital this afternoon. While there isn’t an official update yet (and likely won’t be one for a while), PFT reports that the initial diagnosis is unspecific and classified as ‘some sort of internal bruising’. We’ll see if that holds true, but being released today is a good step in the right direction.

Jarvis Jones Leaves Stadium In Ambulance

Jarvis Jones was injured after recovering an interception in the 4th quarter against the Chiefs tonight. The hit didn’t look like much at first, but Jones was initially unable to get up, and walked to the sideline after being attended to by medical staff. After the game, Jones was taken out on a stretcher, and was taken to a local hospital via ambulance for further evaluation. Preliminary reports are that he is being treated for a chest injury. Here is a gif the play where he was hurt.

List Of Steelers Not Dressing For The Chiefs Game

The following players are not dressing for the Chiefs game tonight:

DeMarcus VanDyke, Le’Veon Bell, Isaac Redman, Larod Stephens-Howling, Isaiah Green, Sean Spence, Stevenson Sylvester, Justin Cheadle, Heath Miller, Matt Spaeth, and Nick Williams.

The main surprise on that list is Isaac Redman, who was expected by many to play tonight. Team sources said earlier that Felix Jones is expected to play for 10 to 12 plays tonight. He’s wearing #23. Cortez Allen, David Johnson, and Will Johnson all are playing tonight.

Steelers Trade LB Adrian Robinson For RB Felix Jones

Today the Steelers have traded Adrian Robinson to the Eagles for Felix Jones.

Jones, who was drafted one pick before Mendenhall in 2008, spent 5 years with the Cowboys before signing a one year deal with the Eagles in May. The former 1st round pick turned 26 in May, and averaged 4.8 yards per carry during his time with the Cowboys. He also has kickoff return experience, with a 23.9 yard per return average.

Robinson, who was signed as an UDFA out of Temple in 2012, was on the roster last year and active for 12 games. His chances of making the 53 man roster this year were slim.

I wouldn’t read too much into this acquisition. Jones isn’t a lock to make the roster, and the trade isn’t even official unless both men pass physicals today. Jones left the Eagles preseason game early last week with a rib injury, and has battled with ankle and knee injuries for much of his career.

Bill Cowher Youtube

Bill Cowher Dons Eyeliner In Music Video Appearance

Coach Cowher is seen sporting “Manliner” in a recently released music video titled “Cry Your Eyes Out”. The video is preformed by his girlfriend ‘Queen V’ and can be seen below. There’s a good closeup of “The Chin” at around 1:10 into it. While he does manage to pull off the goth-peasant look, I prefer him in a headset and black turtle neck personally. 🙂

Also joining ESPN as a contributor is Steelers Safety Ryan Clark. Clark has made appearances on ESPN in the past, most notably on First Take, and expressed interest in a possible career in broadcasting after football. At the Super Bowl, he went as far as asking an ESPN producer if he could intern there.

“Whatever you need me to do, I will do. I want to be an ESPN NFL intern.”

The exact details of Clark’s involvement weren’t immediately available, but he will reportedly be an in-season and off-season contributor.
