is this the part where the Hanger 1 UFO files crew comes in and reports how the Ravens are laughing to themselves for stealing Maxx Williams from us?

First game jitters. Could be the best thing that could happen to him. Big things are going to come from this guy. I agree, give him time.

I hope so. Cause several of his drops were so easy. I mean it looked a lot like he was afraid of getting Hit. But I hope I am wrong. Just nerves.

I'm a big Penn State fan and I'm telling you, James is going to be a red zone threat for this team. I'm not worried about it. He had two major drops no doubt. But you can see Haley likes him. They ran plays that seemed designed for him. Looking forward to seeing how he responds against the Jags. I'd be willing to bet it's positive.

Lets hope this bad game makes him focus more on what he's doing.

Just over-eager. Look at the dropped TD. There were no defenders in sight, and he knew it. He dropped it anyway because he took his eye off the ball. It could be he was afraid of getting hit, but looking at that blitz, and the way he faked the block, I think he knew how open he was. He had to. He was just anxious to get into the end zone.

The other drop was bad too, but it wasn't alligator-arms or anything. I think it was just nerves.

Actually on the one throw nearest the goal line for a sure TD I thought he looked as though he was anticipating his run before catching the ball. I do not see any problems with Jesse James.. He is young and so new..

No, more on Real Steel. http://thesteelersfans.com/forums/threads/ravens-stole-our-pick.11708/ and http://thesteelersfans.com/forums/t...-steal-of-the-draft-and-the-next-gronk.11799/

Sorry Real, but it was the first pre-season game. I wasn't a fan of this pick at draft time either, but better he work out the kinks now than in the regular season. Let's see how he responds. You may have been being facetious I don't know.

I watch Penn State all the time. These are similar things I've seen with Jesse James. He has some ability to get open,he is a big body.
But, his hands are terrible he drops a lot of balls, and like you saw last night tried to run up field before he had control of the ball.
He is a rookie cut him a little break. Hopefully Heath shows him a few things on how to catch better. I'd rather him play poorly now than in a important game. But, he better realize he needs to play better, they won't be afraid to cut a 5th round pick, if another rookie FA plays better than him.

But late round picks dont have a lot of time to improve their game, he better show something quick or he will be seeing the turk, being young and new doesnt mean a thing when cut time comes around, most of the cuts will be young and new.........

Yeah, that was a terrible showing for sure. I hated the pick at the time (still do), but you can't over react to a bad first game... No matter how bad it was.

Hopefully he redeems himself in the next couple games. We don't really have any other viable options at the TE3 position, so he better get his act together haha

    Jesse James scouting report:

    WEAKNESSES
Sluggish off the release and runs somewhat labored and mechanical routes, getting very limited separation against man coverage. Play demeanor lacks desired fire and aggressiveness. Does just enough as a run blocker. Doesn't handle power and movement in space as well as he needs to as a blocker. Gets hung up against jams at line of scrimmage and against physical defenders within his routes. Will try to run through defender rather than adjusting route. Inconsistent adjusting to poorly thrown balls and making the tough catch.
    DRAFT PROJECTION
    Round 5 or 6
    NFL COMPARISON
    Phillip Supernaw
    BOTTOM LINE
Big, in-line tight end with room on his frame for more muscle, but he's limited by a lack of functional athleticism and a mechanical play demeanor. James isn't a plus receiver with great hands and he lacks the quickness to consistently free himself from man coverage, so he must become a more determined run blocker in order to have a shot at starting in the NFL.

Diamond? I have seen this scouting report. Where does it talk about his inability to catch balls? I see reference to " tough catch" Would you characterize either throw he dropped last night as a " tough catch" ?

Can anyone remember what Beachum's first preseason game looked like? If I remember correctly....he was cut by almost everyone on here. In fact, I'm pretty sure that most were surprised when he made the cut to the roster and made the squad.
