With a great group of FA'S this season I hope Ben will take a cap friendly deal . I know he wants huge money , but I hope Colbert can convince him to take less so we can use the money to win Championships.

If it where me I would rather have a 100 Million and a shot at 2 or 3 more Championships than to have 130 Million. Plus you probably make more money after Football than you are giving up if you become a house hold name.

He already is a household name, but not for good reasons. He needs to make his money now. With that said, how many millions do you need, and championships are forever. Unfortunately, his agent will dictate and he will go for the money.

Ben has had a 45 mill contract, and a 102 mill contract since he was drafted, he should be financially secure for life as it is, taking a team friendly contract now would be beneficial to his legacy, another super bowl should be more important to him at this stage of his career than an extra 30 million added to the teams cap...Brady took a pay cut to get to a super bowl, Ben can as well...

Say what you will about Todd Haley, but his offensive philosophy was exactly what Ben needed at exactly the right time, going into the back end of his career. The Rooneys were smart enough to recognize that. Bruce Arians would have gotten Ben killed and shortened his career with his sandlot style of offense!

Now, let's get Ben wrapped up for the home stretch!

While it would be nice for the team and us fans if Ben took a "team friendly" contract, I won't feel that he's doing anything bad to the team if he refuses to agree to anything less than his market value. It's on the team to manage the cap and build the best team possible for the available dollars, and part of that is paying market value to key players. The Tom Brady example doesn't sway me. He has a wife with a net worth that is multiples of his net worth, and IMO he has a WAY higher post NFL income potential than Ben.

I think of it as a legacy deal rather than a team friendly deal. I hope they do speak to Ben and talk about his legacy and how he wants to be remembered. Is it a great QB that played ok in three superbowls or is it a great QB that played in several more superbowls, with the opportunity to be the MVP. As of right now Hines and Santonio are the MVP's of his two wins. It might be wishful thinking on my part but I hope he considers that. Either was he is headed for Canton but I'd like to see him there with four or even five rings!

love ben but the team comes first. I hope they consider not painting themselves into a corner and his skills diminish down the road. nobody knows how that will go and it is a crapshoot. either way they could have him for 3 more years no matter how it goes. 1 year contract and two franchise tags are the teams bargaining chip.

I look at it this way, taking a 90 mill deal for 5 years isnt exactly chump change, and does he really need a 120 million deal to convince him and his agent the team isn't disrespecting him, I don't think he would command 120 million on the free market anyway....

Flacco got roughly $20MM a year and that will be a 3 year old contract. Ben will be over that. Be it 5 or 6 years. My guess is 5 years $110MM or 6 and $132MM. The home team discount will be him signing rather than waiting a year to be a free agent.

Brady gave the Pats a discount. They filled in some nice pieces around him. Worked out pretty well.

IIRC, not so much, I think TTF has dispelled that notion. Maybe he will chime in on this.

Bens going to get his money, they aren't going to tag him and they will continue to build a good football team around him. We're never going to be a team with 24 million in cap space, people need to realize that. And even if they had a ton of cap space, you wont see them going out and throwing big money at other teams FA, they don't do business like that.

I see no less than 20 mil per season for Ben.

Rooney and Colbert have said signing him is a priority. So they could tag him, but odds are they won't.
He wants to stay in Pittsburgh. So he could give a discount, but odds are he won't.

there are people who work more for the same amount of money and there are people who work in a profession where they know and understand that it is in a mutual agreement that it benefits both parties.

    HIS JOB?
it is a business and there are 2 jobs that agree to a contract
    like a lot of jobs

I don't think I need to follow this story; a new deal for Ben will get done, no worries. What we should be counting our lucky stars on is if Brown doesn't realize how underpaid he is. That's the threat, not Ben's deal.
