Winston's troubles have been well documented but his talent is off the charts. I look for the Steelers to have a top 10 draft pick in 2015. At one time, Winston was tracking to be the number one overall draft pick but his stock has been dropping of late because of his troubles off the field. If we're picking at 9 in next May's draft and Winston, a talent that only comes along every few years, is sitting there do we take him? Go!

As much as Id like to have a replacement for Ben on the roster for a few years before he retires.

No way I take this kid. Ill go on record right now. He falls late second early third. Just to many issues. Not anywhere near a first round QB . JMO...

Tough call. Last year I would have given the house for him. He's a rare talent you can build a team around. His off the field issues continue to show a lack of maturity and judgement, though.

My acceptance of the pick would go up exponentially if we could get him in the second as opposed to the first.

If we take anything less than a corner in the first round, someone needs to be fired.

But to answer your question, no. I wouldn't take him with my first round pick. If he falls to the second or third round then you have my attention.

I think his track record off the field makes him borderline toxic in today's NFL. Love the raw talent, but don't trust the kid to do anything but implode when he's flush with cash after signing his first contract.

    Agreed.

To answer the question, would I take him at 9 overall next year? Absolutely not. Would rather bolster our OL or nab the best CB available.

Wouldn,t touch this guy with a ten foot pole. The 1st 4 rounds better include 2 cbs and 2 safetys unless Heath's replacement can be found.

I just don't think he is THAT good. I wouldn't risk it.

I think he has the "it" factor on the field ,off the field he has some growing up to do. Million dollar arm 10cent head.with that being said if he is sitting there in the 2nd round man it would be hard to not take a chance on him. We've been wrong before so I'm not worried about , his upside is pretty damn good.

My sister lives in Tallahassee. The stories about this kid (more than the numerous ones in the national sports headlines) lead me to believe he is a borderline sociopath. Easy pass for me in any round.

Any team that takes Mariota or Winston in the Top 5 picks will be setting their franchise back by 3 years.

I still haven't made my mind up on Mariota but I just don't think he will be that successful at the NFL level. That being said if the Eagles got their hands on him, that could be a different story.

As for Winston, I don't see him as a 1st round talented QB at all and with his character concerns I don't know if I would even take him in Round 2.

I think Mariota has legit franchise QB potential, but he's going to need to be in the right scheme. If someone drafts him, and then throws him into a traditional NFL style offense, he make take a while to impact. Put him into an up tempo, quick read type of offense like what Kelly runs in Philly, and look out. Contrary to what some folks may think, that type of offense does not have to put the QB at risk with a bunch of designed QB runs. When I think of Mariota, I think Kapernick + Brain = Mariota. That could be dangerous in the right OC's hands.
