If he isn't hurt in preseason. We could be 4-0
    Just saying

yeah i know... don't say that just hurts more lol. We have our "good enough" defense with this explosive offense to win it all, the stars just aint aligning.

I was just thinking the same thing. Yeah, it's a team effort, but his bad misses have affected the team, especially last night when we needed all the help we could get without Ben.

I think you definitely hit on something there. It's a momentum/morale type thing. The defense had 2 turnovers and 5 sacks. The offense didn't turn the ball over and Bell had over 100 yards rushing. And we lost the game?.. Oh that's because we had a veteran kicker who missed 2 makeable field goals, and wasn't even given a try for the game winner because he's proven himself to be terrible.

Tomlin may have saved Suckbees life last night by not giving him a chance to win the game. If he went 2-5 and missed 3 straight game winners he may not have made it out of the stadium. They may have found him this morning floating in the Mong.

Yeah, because in no way has Suisham ever missed shorter FGs that would have given us the win in previous seasons.

I really don't get why a guy gets injured and suddenly he's remembered as the best kicker ever.

Because he Ws one of the most accurate kickers over the last 4 years and was pretty much money inside the 50. I can't ever remember a streak like this from him even when he struggled coming here mid season.

Suisham was one if not the most accurate kicker inside 50 the last couple of years. He also seems to know how to play the wind in the stadium. I feel awful for Scobee but it is time to move on and try another kicker.

    Last 4 years, you say?

I don't have anything against the guy at all. Was he reliable? Yeah, kind of. Would he definitely have made those FGs that Scobee missed? Not necessarily. I just don't get how he has gone up so high in people's estimation between pre-injury and post-injury.

Not so much in your case, as I know that you've often pushed for him getting more recognition around here.

And Scobee has already missed more field goals then Suisham missed in each of the last three seasons. He actually is half way to what Suisham missed in the last three years combined. Each of the last three years Suisham has only missed three field goals in each of them and most of those were from beyond 50. I think two of the three he missed last year were from beyond 50.

Yep. Suisham is very good from inside 45 but he does not have a strong leg as in he almost never gets touchbacks on kickoffs.

Suisham is 6/15 from 50+ in 138 games. That means he has been asked to kick a 50 yarder once every 9 games. His coaches know his limitations.

Suisham likely makes the 41 but misses the 49. Would be a win then. Oh well.

Tomlin got off to a bad start this season and the hits just keep coming. Playing Suisham in a meaningless preseason game started it.

2-2 with losses to the Pats and Ravens without Ben isn't that bad. Remember 2013 when they started 2-6?

Thats not what I was talking about. Was just commenting on some questionable decisions lately. Playing Suisham in preseason, bringing Vick here, putting the ball in Vicks hands twice with the game on the line. All head scratchers.

I can't argue that haha. Yeah, there have been times when Tomlin's injury management was suspect I thought. Like calling a QB sneak when Ben had a high ankle speain complete with special boot, or leaving Leftwich in with broken ribs... especially when Charlie Batch was on the bench.

The problem was not with playing Suisham, for me - the problem was more a) Suisham going in for the tackle when there was no need, and b) there being no kicker competition in camp this year.

We're going to be starting at 2-6 again here pretty soon.

Haha I was expecting someone might say that but you can relax: the Steelers don't play the Raiders or Broncos until the second half of the season.
