I don't want it to happen. However, if it does happen, I will DVR and watch every episode with religious fervor (and I've never watched a single minute of the show in the past). I'm guessing that a lot of fans feel the same way, and the NFL may be looking at the ratings they can achieve from Steeler Nation.

It would be hard for me not to watch it but I am hoping that it doesn't happen here

I would of course watch it because I soak up all things Steelers but I hope the report is indeed false, it's a distraction they don't need.

I've gone on about this before and BF I don't want it to seem like I am picking on your comment but why is this anymore more or less of a distraction than what already is going on at training camp and through out the course of a season? People have said well it is more cameras with more access. Some of these guys get recorded going into a grocery store and you think a camera interview in the locker room or team meeting rooms is going to distract from their concentration on the field? I mean the way I have heard people go on about Hard Knocks makes me first question if they have ever watched the show and second if they think the NFL is the biggest collection of ADHD suffers in the world. Oh No more camera will be a distraction they better hope the Networks don't bring extra cameras on Sunday for fear they might not be able to perform.

Ok all kidding aside here is a serious question does anyone think that the AE crew that filmed the London game and the week leading up to it caused a distraction that resulted in the Steelers losing the game? Personally I think the loss had more serious roots in the jet-lag and key injuries to vital members of the team than the film crews but that is just me.Anyways I am on record as saying I think the Rams are HBO's first choice because the storylines will be better.

Anything out of the norm is a distraction. You don't think they will notice a film crew following them around all the time? You don't think being kept on your toes about what comes out of your mouth isn't a distraction? I want them focusing on football, nothing else, don't want them concerned about putting the Steelers brand in a bad light. It's 100% a distraction IMO. Rooneys and Tomlin must think so too, they want nothing to do with it.

No I don't think it is. If you are an honest person and speak to others in a way that is respectful I think that translate on film. If you are on record as being a bad ass then it doesn't change that opinion of you. If I honestly believed that they would be focusing on football and nothing else I would agree with you but that isn't the case. As far as Tomlin and the Rooney go I think they are against being forced into to it, I don't think it has been presented in a way to them that highlights the good things that can come from it. He wider audience that you can bring the game to.

Tomlin has come out and said its a distraction, wants nothing to do with it. Like I said, anything out of the norm is a distraction. These guys are very regimented, athletes in general, they have their routines and don't like to deviate.

It might be but then again anything other than football would fall into that category like media day that has to happen on a tuesday instead of Wednesday because of an early game or because of a Monday night game, Ben having a child, Clark's little jaunt to Bristol last year, Troy's charity work, and so and so on, these are professionals who are in front of the camera a lot one more crew besides NFL films isn't going to break their stride.

Why add more? It's fan fluff, doesn't benefit the players at all, it doesn't enhance their chances of winning one single bit, if anything, will only hinder their chances because I bet if you had access to the players and could poll them, most would say its a distraction they could do without.

I just don't understand how anyone could think Hard Knocks wouldn't potentially be a distraction. It's not like the occasional, scheduled media day. It's a production crew with cameras and boom mics recording everything, essentially non-stop.

It's a huge distraction. But from an entertainment standpoint, it's darn good TV. Haven't seen it in a few years, since I don't currently have HBO, but I used to be a huge fan.

Despite it being fascinating to watch, I think it's ridiculous for the NFL to 'force' it on a team if there are no willing volunteers.

The fact that coach T has on record called it a joke may mean very well that the ROGER will see to it this happens. Or am I being a Goodell conspiracy theorist all over?

It is as much of a distraction as a team lets it be. Can we look at last seasons Bengals camp and say that it was a distraction and kept them from achieving their goals? Well considering they won the division and the success they saw I would lean towards they took it in stride and concentrated on football and allowed the film crews to do their jobs. Lets look at the A.E. show that put cameras and crews in looker rooms, meeting rooms and hotels for a week leading up to the huge distraction of playing a game thousands of miles from home. Did they cause the team to focus less on prep and more on what they were doing? I don't know but again I lean towards the probably didn't hurt but wasn't helpful either. Last thing I am going to point out is this is not something new to the league. Most teams deal with NFL films and their crews and audio guys filming and recording through out the season for weekly shows, highlight videos, specials and so on as well as their own teams multimedia crews recording things for SteelersTV, the websites videos and so on. SO this disruption is already something that teams deal with so again if you let it become a problem then it is.

BF I think they would say that and a lot more considering the level of media access that is currently in the game. However I think if they took a poll of rookies and 1st year players about it there would be more positive than negatives because it gives them more exposure and can lead to endorsement deals.

How good an individual player is, is what determines his endorsement deals. If he stinks, no amount of hard knocks coverage will change that.

I'm not saying a team is doomed if they participate, just as a fan, why would you want anything that is even remotely detrimental to your team just so you can get some fluff? I want SB's, anything that can distract from that, I'm against. I don't think they should have to do media day or any of that other stuff either and think its incredibly stupid that interviews have to be performed immediately after a loss, how absurd. I'm against all of it.

It's stupid to impose it on them if they don't want to participate.

Again I would agree but I also know that I have paid more attention to certain bubble players that got featured on Hard Knocks than I would had I not watched them. The Bengals first go round they had one of their DB's and one of the running backs that got more screen time this time it was their 2nd round pick a DE who had played less that two years of college ball but was a physical beast nad I found myself looking for these guys on game day. So the exposure helps. Heck I would have given Maybin a call just based on the work ethic he showed on the show but that's me and I don't run any team other than an xbox 360 one lol.

One small aside they have to have the film crews because if they didn't how would we relive the one for the thumb if not for the wonder of the SB DVD. Necessary evils my friend

You could argue that the Bengals would have won the AFC championship if it hadn't been for all that distraction. I was going to say Superbowl but it was hard enough typing championship and Bengals in the same sentence.

While I am sure it is a distraction to players, the Montreal Canadiens have a show in the NHL that follows them around called 24/7. These cameras are present not only during training camp and practices, but during the entire year. Before the show debuted, Montreal was the 3rd worst team in the NHL. They have since been 2nd in the Conference and 4th in the Conference and on their way to the 2nd round of the playoffs this year.

I'm not convinced that doing Hard Knocks would derail the Steelers season. I believe it could do this to a weak organization, however, I think it only enhances a strong organization like the Steelers.

Was only a matter of time before Montreal was good again, the winningest most storied franchises in league history. They are to hockey as what the Yankees are to baseball.

As I said, I don't think it means you can't win if you do hard knocks, I just don't see the need to have that circus around the team. To each their own, hope the Steelers can continue to avoid it.
