The company I work for unfortunately in Mn sells parts that are used in everything so in order to keep companies supplying medical equipment we have to keep going. Had a guy in my section come back from vacation in Mexico yesterday and worked all day before he was told to stay home today. Idiots

Please everyone, friends Steelers fans, board members be safe and well. The national anthem fight cost us some great members. Don't let this break us. Stay safe. Stay informed and we will triumph over this.

I haven't been on the board since the season was graciously put out of its misery. But this whole stuff is crazy. I work in small CPA firm and we were still open and doing a normal busy season. I was out all week as I was sick and they wanted me to go home for precautionary measures. So I have no idea what's going to happen now. But literally, Accounting, Tax Preparation, Bookkeeping and Payroll Tax is like the definition of what our firm is, so its a definite no to being open.

Crazy time out there. Everyone and their family please be safe. Stay inside as much as you can.

    Be safe!

I feel like a complete idiot wearing gloves to get my mail and sequestering myself in my home but I'd rather be a live idiot a than a sick/dead show-off.

Trust me no showing off here to anyone. Just my job where I collect my paycheck. It just so happens it's become the front lines to dealing with a pandemic.

I sincerely apologize if you thought I meant you were showing off! I meant me, trying to be a tough guy and not protecting myself as opposed to being a dork:smiley1:

I hope you stay safe. But thank you for the critical help you're providing.

Unlike my company that provides zero public service, but requires all hands on deck because they're using a loophole to stay open and hope they don't get caught. :roflmao:

I’m in the food service industry and travel to many cities is several states. This is how I met CoastalSteeler a few years back down in Jacksonville NC.... I cannot avoid contact with hundreds of people weekly, people at Walmart, Family Dollar, Speedway, 7-11..... and more! We are their suppliers so we must continue on!! If I don’t get this virus it’s a miracle, But life must go on, and my only defense is Lysol spray, Clorox wipes and A LOT of hand sanitizer.........

I guess it’s a good thing since I die if I had to stay locked up at home for two weeks...

Ya’ll be safe and safe minded!!!

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully this follows China’s timeline, which is about 2 months. Problem is, too many states are doing their own thing, which is woefully inadequate in some instances. I’m worried this will drag on a lot longer.

Indeed. But I would caution don't be too informed. Consuming this constant 24 hours news cycle leads to hopelessness and negativity. I know ironic me Mr. Negative on anything Tomlin saying this.

Agree on the state part. So let's say PA shuts down for 2 weeks but Ohio doesn't. Then after PA comes back, Ohio goes on shut down. Thats 4 weeks of impacted business etc. Just have one country wide shut down if that is going to help stop the spread and get it over with. Neighboring states on different schedules will just further the impact imo.

    Welp...

A younger kid at my company came to work sick - 2 days in a row until his supervisor noticed. He said he didn't want to get disciplined for missing work (because, yeah, my company doesn't treat their workers like adults).

So, now we're all laid off pending his test results. People just never consider the Law of Unintended Consequences.

    Hope it's just a cold...

Right now the biggest threat is the over-reaction, the current panic is incalculably more damning than the virus.

    A little perspective:

If the media would tell us that 49,000,000 people in the US contracted the flu in the winter of 2017-2018, and 80,000 died that year in the US alone that would help us to understand at higher level.

If they would tell us that during the winter of 2017-2018 the mortality rate of the flu ran above 10% for four consecutive weeks, it would put the projected 1.5% - 3% mortality rate for Coronavirus into perspective.

    www.cdc.gov/flu/about/season/flu-season-2017-2018.htm

Coronavirus "may" approach, or even exceed, the numbers of the flu epidemic of 2017-2018 and it may not; the current growth rate indicates it will not.

As of this minute there are 27,111 cases in the US which is up 7268 in the last 24 hours, let's say the numbers grow to 50,000 new cases every day for the next 60 days....we would then be at 3,027,111 cases in two months.....the flu had 49,000,000 cases two winters ago.

As of this minute, there are 340 deaths in the US which is up 64 in the last 24 hours, let's say the number grows to 1000 new deaths every day for the next 60 days.....we would be at 60,340 deaths in two months.......the flu killed 80,000 people just two winters ago.

Maybe a little common sense can become contagious as well:drinks:

My one experience with corporate America was 12 years at a large company that was a subsidiary of a huge company. Our policy stated that an employee could be disciplined, including termination, if they knowingly came to work sick!
