Picks 16 and 17 surprised me. I wouldn't have thought a CB to Houston and a DT to San Diego. Nice work. I would have thought WR and RB respectively. Draft is pretty realistic though, nice job everyone!

The Carolina Panthers are entertaining trade offers. NOTE: We will not trade out of the first round.

The imbalance is what makes it realistic. Stupid trades and pick-pocket trades seem more common than mutually beneficial trades.

Hmmm...one more trade committee member vote needed to approve...I say no.

Still 2 other members can vote and only 1 needed to approve this deal.

If the RG3 fleecing can happen in real life, then this one was pretty realistic IMO

at first glance it may seem like the saints made out like bandits... they get a potential replacement for jimmy graham.
the lions already have former 1st rounder Brandon Pettigrew and a very young and still developing Joe Fauria on the roster and the opportunity to shore up a problem area on the defense with a top of the line defender, when the dropoff between the top corners and the contenders is fairly steep.... looking at it this way, the trade is mutually beneficial....
Just a little something for the committee to consider as they vote

Ebron may never pan out, he could be one of many top-10 busts, so Detroit unloading his salary may not be that bad of a move (damaged ego aside.) If that's the case, they essentially gave a 2nd round pick and a salary dump for NO's 1st!

At this point Ebron is nothing more than a hyped up collegiate highlight reel. I think it's more even that it appears, and would lean towards Detroit being the "winner".

Based on what? That stupid chart? It's a guideline, probably more for the likes of us than the likes of real GMs.

Was Richard Seymour worth 950 points at age 32, going into his 11th season?
Was Carson Palmer worth 1480 points at age 32, having displayed his ceiling, never won a playoff game, and torn his knee to shreds?
    Was Ryan Leaf worth 2,480 points (swap 1st + 1st + 2nd) + Eric Metcalf?
Was the 2010 #89 pick (150 points) worth the 2011 #33 pick (580 points)? (hint: NO)

Is former 1st round pick Eric Ebron worth more than a high 3rd rounder, after a disappointing rookie season? That's a matter of opinion, and WAY more debatable than any of the real life trades listed above. There are 1st round picks I'd swap for a high 3rd the day after the draft if I was a new GM. Imagine having a whole rookie season to go off of. If offered that trade, I'd probably stick with Ebron's potential at least another year, but that's me. Maybe this GM saw an opportunity to finally end their long-running CB drought, and isn't so worried about its offense, especially with some already decent TEs and a brand new shiny RB. It's more reasonable than many realistic trades.

So is this a personal power trip, or is it a more dramatic game of House when there's conflict? If realism is what you're after, which I believe is a claim I've heard, then there should be no committee denying perfectly realistic trades - which is exactly what this is. Just because you wouldn't do it or don't think it would never happen doesn't make it so. You'd probably say that about most trades, the day before they happen.

seriously though, I've never seen GP to have any reason to "flex his virtual muscle"

I've always been cranky about the limitations on a virtual fantasy draft being far, far more strict than any real draft. Adding in fantasy litigation and roadblocks to a fantasy to try to make it more realistic makes little sense to me.

So Snack, the problem is that in the past there would sometimes be excessive trading of players for picks by some GMs. I recall Drew Brees being traded for something like the 35th pick just after winning the SB because the Saints GM wanted picks to play with.
