It's possible Labriola screwed up, but my money is on him covering for Butler, possibly under direction from the team.

Also references players by #s bc all he does is watch game film!? You get paid to do your job but apparently finding an easy way is good enough. Yup , this highlights butler and what the D resembles. Wouldnt be surprised if he dont know everyones name on the active roster.

 

Thanks. I just listened to the audio. Labriola did screw up, but so did Butler.They both sound like idiots in that interview.

Butler was saying earlier this week that he wants his young LB's to watch Burfict sunday, on how he moves around and clogs up holes.

 

so in other words, do what the bungirls coaches have taught them instead of our coaches. sounds about right. we had the giants former staff helping we might as well have the bungirls staff help out too.

 

I hate given all that praise to guys on the other Team... They make it sound like our Team has little to no chance of guarding them...This may have a lot of truth but damn every team we play is not all world at every position...

 

Burfict is OUT for this game. Our linebackers will be watching him sit on the bench.

Eifert was out before we played them last time. I can't give Butler a pass for just having a brain fart. I am assuming Butler would have to have been fairly far into his game planing, by the time the interview took place. How can you watch weeks worth of film, and not immediately know Eifert is out when asked? Eifert hasn't suited up in a game vs the Steelers since week 15, 2016! How can you be the Defensive Coordinator and not immediately know that? It is now days later and it still boggles my mind.

 

He's right You should probably go back and brush up on your book reports too while you're at it.
Maybe include a index and bibliography next time as well.....

 

Labriola did screw up, why is he talking about a player on IR?

 

Coaches and players spend hours and hours watching film on 17 teams and hundreds of players. I doubt coaches stay in turned with what happened in the overall scope of the league. I doubt coaches know every player in the league outside of the mega stars (QBs). Is Eifert a mega star?

They probably tend to focus on what's right there in front of them ie the players that are on the field in game film. I doubt coaches think, "oh Eifert is not playing so what a huge relief." The next guy can beat the team just as easily as Eifert.

I don't know every player in the league. I didn't even know when or if Eifert was injured. Apparently, neither did the reporter. It's easy to understand that coaches wouldn't know that Eifert was injured either.

 

Labriola definitely screwed up. I just care a lot less about his mistakes than I do about Butler's.

 

I don't care that Labriola screwed up - he's not the DC of this team. Had he gone in and said "Hey coach, how do you plan on defending against Esiason this game?", I would not expect Butler to give a strategy or talk about how tough it is to do that. Butler has his head up his keester and needs to be gone.

 

I know he's out , but does Butler?

I want a defensive coach that is working tirelessly to discover and exploit player tendencies. Not only is Butler not doing that, he doesn't even know the guys name that he is game planning against. You would think with all the struggles the Steelers have had covering up the tight end that Butler would at least know who he's going up against.

BTW, Eifert was a mega star in college. 1st round draft pick coming out of Notre Dame. His NFL career has been riddled with injuries, but everyone knows who he is. You would have to live under a rock to not know Eifert is on IR.

 

Pretty sure Butler will have Vincenzo covering Ochoa cinco.
