The thing is I think the Steelers record would be about the same. But I do think the offense would look better. Mason isn't afraid to stand in the pocket and get the ball vertical. He isn't afraid to put it up over the middle. I have no doubt he would make his fair share of bad throws/mistakes, but I could see him throwing for 300 yards per game as opposed to Kenny and Mitch which are good for about 200 per.

No kidding, why would we want a QB that has a winning record as a starter at 5-4-1 I believe. We made a much better decision in being 5-8. JMO>

No one knows what would have happened and whatever I think about it doesn't matter as I can't provide a link to prove it. JMO>

In general, the more weight you carry, the more likely you are to have problems with your feet.

This is why I thought it was comical that some people argued that Austin's foot injury was somehow proof that his lack of size made him too vulnerable to injury.

Sudden weight gain can contribute to many pediatric issues (plantar fasciitis being chief among them)..... Lisfranc issues are very much related, and with the pounding a rb's feet take with the ground, a few extra pounds can be very significant

just guessing, but i think with Rudolph as the starter we'd more or less have the same record at this time (4-9 to 6-7) with fans clamoring for KP to start. Actually maybe Mason is the one that gets knocked out of the Ravens game, and KP comes in instead of Mitch and throws 3 TD's (instead of Mitch's 3 INT's) and were now discussing the beginning of the KP era on this board.

I think that's the way it should've gone.

Pickett and Trubisky have the ability to run and get away from the rush. Pickett has still suffered two concussions.

Rudolph's head would be scrambled eggs by now.

So 63 games isn't enough. You need 64 games.
Yet after only 10 starts You know Mason isn't good, and couldn't have gotten better????

No....this is a myth. A Guy that can run ....1st impulse is run when in trouble...a true pocket passer will get rid of the ball, or throw it away. How many concussions have You seen Brady, Peyton take. Yet this season is literally littered with injured so called athletic Qbs. Hell We watched 2 go down just on our game Sunday.
You people have been duped by the media, and Madden video game.
Question.....if all the protection is in the pocket (as people have complained about Qbs getting barely taken down, and a flag called)....why would You want Your most valuable Guy anywhere else???
Yes it's nice to be able to run for a easy 1st, Qb sneak, or at the goal line, but nobody....I repeat nobody is as fast as the thrown ball.

If TJ was playing, we would have beat the Jets, Pats, Browns and Fins.

Your argument is laughable at best. You are correct Trubisky was going against the starters, but he was also playing with the starters. Again, yes Mason was going against rookies and scrubs, but he was also leading the rookies and scrubs. Tell the whole story not just the half that supports your hatred of Mason.

I don't see it as that complicated, Trubisky can't take care of the ball, he thinks he's John Elway. the backup is a game manager that has to take care of the ball; that's Mason, i think he knows his role. I think the logical thing to do is play him if KP is not ready.

I always thought Mason played to scared in preseason, never wanting to push the ball down the field afraid of losing his job.

The stuff that has been coming out of Mason's mouth this week is hilarious. He sounds like he is ready to go out there and show the world what we saw in practice when he dominated the first couple of weeks of training camp; before returning to his preseason scared of making a mistake form.

I would look forward to seeing this "I don't give a crap" Mason take the field on Sunday. Right now he seems to just have a whole new outlook on football after "I’ve been inactive,” this season.

He took a big demotion, from projected starter after Ben retired to third string. That's got to hurt, and he must have a chip on his shoulder, who wouldn't in that situation. Just hope he plays within his capabilities if he gets the nod and doesn't go hero mode like Trubisky did.

By all means, please provide us with this evidence that I hate Mason Rudolph. I post here quite a bit and have been doing so through much of his time as a Steeler. I'm sure you can find ample evidence to support your claim.

I'll give you a hint to get you started. Writing about his past performance and pointing out that it compares unfavorably to many quarterbacks, including Trubisky, is not evidence of hatred for the guy.

I do love the irony of you calling anybody's argument laughable when yours is built on the unsupported claim that I hate Mason Rudolph.

Yes, he had lesser players around him some of the time in preseason, but he was still the most experienced player on the field. He should be able to take advantage of that. Any veteran quarterback should shred a defense manned by guys headed for the practice squad or unemployment regardless of the talent around him. It's not as if he had some massive advantage in preseason statistics. He didn't.

Trubisky completed 24 of 34 passes (70.5 percent) for 283 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions in the preseason.

Rudolph completed 26 of 39 passes (66.7 percent) for 220 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions.

Somehow, people like you translated this into Rudolph dominating.

    Really.....
I guessed You forgot that big a$$ed dime He dropped on Pickens....it may have been the best pass I seen out of our Qbs in the whole preseason.

That pass was a thing of beauty. Too bad we haven’t seen that in the regular season. I’d like to see Mason start, not because I think he’s that much better than Trubisky, but he did seem to have a good chemistry with Pickens in the pre-season and Diontae loves him. Let’s see what he can do and give him a chance to enhance his resume a little before he hits the market. But I will say this, the idiotic narrative out there by Dulac and others that Mason or Mitch have been done wrong is ridiculous! Neither of them have been mistreated in any way. They were given a fair shot and largely failed.

Mason benefited playing when the defense was playing really good. The defense has sucked this year. I disagree that he’s going to be good anywhere he goes. He nowhere near deserves to start anywhere. He’s probably a QB3 on majority of teams. He sucks. But this forum just can’t let it go.
