It's harder to do the right thing for others sacrificing your better odds. I doubt hurt-feelings play a part.

You sadly make some good points. Don't forget it's a salary cap league so every franchise is still guaranteed to make money win or lose. I personally would like to see a different ownership outside the Rooney family but I know that has zero chance of ever happening. Nothing's ever gonna change because people will still pack the stadium year after year.

You bring up an interesting point. We're going to see how good Tomlin and this team are starting next season when there will be no pushovers in the division (unless WE are the pushover). We've got another tough schedule next year too.

Unless the Bungles make a coaching change I think they implode again.

Ravens? Seem to be around .500 every year.

    Browns, I'm worried

Steelers? Hate to say it, pretenders.

While I am frustrated with the Steelers blind loyalty to a coaching staff that isn’t getting the job done, I am equally puzzled by the thinking of teams like Denver, Arizona, and Miami.

Those three teams had coaches who were highly coveted a year or two ago. And now they drop them for some other head coach, who they will likely fire again in another couple of years.

You have to let new coaches get their own players and fully implement a system before you sack them. Given the talent level you could argue that Gase did more with Miami the last two years than Tomlin did with Pittsburgh. Gase didnt even have his starting QB for much of the last two seasons.

After a 1-13 rookie year Chuck Noll never would have made it to Season 2 with some of these franchises.

Here’s the real reason the Steelers will keep Mike Tomlin too long. But nobody is allowed to talk about it:

The Rooneys grow tired of what exactly? Winning more SB titles than any other franchise?

They have a method and a modus operandi which has served them well for half a century. They ain't going to change.

So far from getting tired of "this", "this" is exactly what they want and exactly the way they have been so successful. That includes things like coaching stability, delegation of authority, i.e. owner, GM, coach, players as opposed to NE where the coach is the GM, and preferential treatment for players that produce.

On that last item we shouldn't be surprised at AB given past history with Ernie Holmes after shooting at a police helicopter, or James Harrison's domestic abuse issues. It's not even a double standard, but a single standard with that standard being "Can he play?"

Getting tired? This is textbook Steelers. There's going to be rough spells at times for sure but over the long run its worked pretty well.

Sick of hearing the same BS and continual platitudes. If Tomlin is worth anything he should take this years tapes and rewatch everything and forumulate a plan to field a team that is prepared and wanting to actually win instead of fielding a team that is unmotivated and just does enough.

3 playoff wins in something like 8 years with one of them being a gift from the Bengals.
Of course he has winning seasons with the Browns, Bengals in our division and us having a HOF quarterback plus, the high powered offense.
Seldom or ever do you see the influence of our coaching staff attribute to winning games. Credit goes to phenomenon players doing fantastic plays on the field. Like or hate Tomlin is not the issue here. The man is not doing his job.

Really? Got a link of that story? I don't recall reading any articles where race was brought into the equation for his firing

Not race, but unfair, which was what you wrote. Tony Dungy and others were pretty emphatic that his firing was unfair.

.....and it's The Rooney Rule. We're stuck for sure. The timing of Tomlin getting fired as well would be a media circus. I guess they should just go around replacing the The standard is the standard signs with never had a losing record signs. Did any of the coaches listed not deserve to be fired? Lewis is lucky he wasn't fired years ago.

yes it always puzzled me how Lewis could keep his job. Notable journalist when talking about Tomlin being let go suggested the Tomlin is fare better coach then Lewis and he still had his job. Well not anymore. lol

Stupid article....If you suck...You should be fired regardless of color...

The players in any sport are rewarded, kept, cut, get raises based on performance...But color, and rules have to be implemented for coaches ?...

    Always thought that was stupid

And this is going to backfire even worse because now teams are going to be afraid to hire a minority coach for fear of the backlash if they ever need to fire them.

    Agreed any which way.

There just seem to be some people who do more to harm the people they pretend to be supporting.

If you want to be treated equally, quit trying to claim you should be special.
