Just because some of us supported Tomlin more than others doesn't mean we want McCarthy to fail .

Some people think just because you have a franchise QB you're guaranteed to win multiple Super Bowls, Brees and Payton along with Rodgers and McCarthy could only make it to one Super Bowl.

They had some bad luck with injuries in the playoffs, but they hung with the SB champs Broncos without Bell and DeAngelo at RB.

I'm not rooting or hoping for MM to fail. It would be incredible if he was a rip-roaring success.

I have never understood the argument/discussion point that Team A or Team B "should have" won a SB.

It makes no sense. The 7 decades or whatever of the SB era has demonstrated only one thing consistently -- winning a SB is really hard. No one should expect to do it.

Plus, we were able to block HOF-bound, all-world-at-the-time, Von Miller better than the mighty Patriots the following week.

The only foolproof way of winning a super bowl is with another coach's players. Tried and true.

That's the Steelers way. Look how they stopped Miles from getting the sack record and secure a spot in the playoffs. oops

That's how Tomlin, Gruden and Switzer won Super Bowls.

The Chiefs, Patriots, Eagles, Rams have skewed opinions on how hard it is to get to and win multiple Super Bowls, with all of them having played in 2 or more Super Bowls over the past decade and the cheating Patriots having won 6 in fairly recent history.

That said, as a fan, I just expect a team like the Steelers to be more relevant in the playoffs. I get that it's very hard to get to and win a Super Bowl. But our approach to the game (team building, coaching, game planning, etc.) for the past decade has proven to be a failure. I think most fans would accept a few non-playoff seasons in return for a few more post-seasons, where we're actually capable of playing a competitive playoff game.

The Steelers of the past decade have actually made me miss the heart-breaking seasons of some of Cowher's pre-2005 years. It's much better to lose a heart-breaking game in the playoffs than to be humiliated in them.

So again, no one knows how the QB Room will shape up to be come the start of the 2026 NFL Season. Could be Aaron Rodgers returning. Could be Will Howard starting. Could be someone else (whomever that is at this point).

What matters is the roster around them. I don't know how many more examples are needed to prove this point throughout the past half century plus of the NFL being America's Favorite Past Time. Having the Quarterback increases the odds of getting to the Super Bowl but the entire team around him is what wins the Organization the big one. Yes, Sam Darnold had talent but talent alone isn't what wins Championships. The best rosters are.

I believe the Steelers would have had a realistic chance of beating the Broncos in 2015 if Williams and Brown had been healthy. It wouldn't have been easy, but it would have been possible. They still made a great effort despite their offense being depleted.

But I don't think they would have had a chance against the Patriots in the AFC title game. It would have been ugly for our defense, as it always was for the Steelers in Foxboro during the Brady era.

The AFC title game in 2014 would also have been possible if Bell had been healthy... If they had won against the Ravens, they would have played against the Broncos with a washed-out Manning, and their defense wasn't as great as it was in 2015, but I'm not convinced the Steelers would have won against the Ravens because our defense was the worst since 1988.

Yep. Just ask the Ravens or Bills fans how that is working out. It might improve your chances and that is about all.
