    With Steelers.... I highly doubt it. Every year its the same things that crush our dreams. Ben gets hurt along with others, we lose a couple of stinkers, key players suspended, scapegoating Tomlin.... the only thing I see this year is the players are becoming frustrated.

    I would say next year looks great but not getting my hopes up. I will say however that im gonna be with Steelers through all the downs when Ben leaves. It's going to get ugly, but i have faith our ownership will do something eventually...

    obviously

    I doubt it. 2014 and 1015 was the best chance, IMO. The window has closed. I hope I'm wrong and he wins 2 more Super Bowls before he retires.:cool:

    well to be honest, we can be stacked head to toe with talent AND results, go 15-1 and choke in the playoffs lol. Nothing in life is guaranteed. 2005 was a prime example of odds against us.

    All i can hope for is an upwards trend and for the team not to give up.

    If Steelers lose to the Browns on Sunday, it's pretty much over. Might as well start looking at the draft.

    Next year when they get Bryant back is the last chance. Once again it all comes down to injuries. I'm sure Tomlin will run them into the ground before Week 1.

    I think there's a very reasonable chance next year, and probably 2018 as well. Our defense is not playing well right now, but there is a lot of youth, and there have been a ton of injuries. The following guys should be improved in 2017 (barring injury): Cockrell, Burns (starting corners), Davis (hopefully starting safety), Chickillo (improving quickly), Hargrave (getting a tough into to the NFL, but he's making the leap from FCS football last year, and his raw talent is undeniable). Plus, factor in young players who will hopefully be coming back from injury: Dupree (potential and work ethic to be an elite edge guy), Golson (potential to be a ballhawk in the slot). We're going to have some tough financial/personnel decisions to make, but the offense should be held together for the most part.

    I don't see us being a juggernaut on paper, but we should contend IF we don't suffer a bunch of key injuries (or dumb stuff like Bryant's suspension). I know there are a lot of people ticked off about how this season has gone, and in some respects rightly so, but it's not fair to understate the effect that injuries have had on our rough stretch. Yeah, there's some bad performances that are on players and coaches, but you can also line up the worst performances by certain units with injuries to key players on those units (other than the Philly debacle).

    hey who knows, win the division at 10-6 or even 9-7, win a PO game or get close, then go all out next year hopefully.

    IF we end up 10-6, it will mean that we went 6-1 down the stretch. IF that happens, any concerns about how badly we're playing now will be out the window be we will have obviously played well down the stretch. The concerns about road play would also be lessened because will have had to beat at least 2 of Indy, Cinci or Buffalo on the road. IF we finish 9-7, it's similar story, though there would be a bit more concern over our overall level of play compared to other playoff teams. Either way, we should be able to win a home playoff game against a road team from the West. Then it's off to most likely another West team in their building, and that would be tough even if we are playing well enough to go 6-1 or 5-2 down the stretch - but not outside the realm of reasonableness.

    yup exactly. But remember, can't win a SB without making the playoffs, and you just never know how the cards unfold once you make the playoffs. Like our team suddenly plays well on defense, ben clicks and is unstoppable...etc.

    likely to happen? no. possibility? almost anything is

    2005, 2008 and even the 2010.

    We had good to better defense those years.
    Until our D gets a lot better, i don't see it happening

    I feel confident Ben will play in another Superbowl... Will defense be good enough to win one?

    I've said it a couple of times before that the Steelers will go either 7-1 or 6-2 and win the division.
    After that anything can happen.

    It's still possible. Time is getting shorter for Ben's career, but it's not over yet. He still has the potential to win, but something needs to be done to bolster the defense to keep things moving in that direction.

    Maybe if he pulls a Bubby Brister and is put out to pasture in a few years as a backup in say Denver and somehow scores another ring or two. Steelers seem to be lacking the contemporary necessities to keep it together an entire season with this season as a prime example with the worse AFC North in what 10 years and we're sadly lagging behind. Losing to Dallas and the Pats is really no disgrace considering their records - but losing to Balt, Miami and Philly is very telling. Our SB this year was beating KC so convincingly. Short-lived lightning in a bottle unfortunately.

    They have a chance the next 1-2 years if they make AB honor his contract then tag him. Use the money those next 2 years to pick up some defensive FA and maybe a kicker worth a damn. So essentially it's potential Super Bowl or keep the business boomin. Lets see what they choose.

    Just don't see it happening anymore. Tomlin, Defense, other factors work against him.

    Check out these stats:

    2005
    sacks- 3rd with 47
    ppg- 3rd with 16.1
    rush yards = 3rd with 86
    pass yards= 16 with 198 per game

    2008 (one of the greatest defenses of all time)

    rush yards per game= 2nd with 80.3
    pass yards per game= 1st with 156.9
    points per game= 1st with 13.9
    sacks 2nd with 51

    2010
    ppg= 1st with 14.5
    rush per game 1st with 62.8
    pass yards= 12th with 214
    sacks= 1st with 48

    2016
    sacks=31 tied last
    ppg= 14
    rush per game= 15 with 102.7
    pass yards= 28 with 278 per game

    2016 is just atrocious. What is the common theme you may ask? Stopping the run is a priority for this team.

    I believe Ben will see another Superbowl. He will have to restrain himself and play smart when he does. If he does so, then he will win another one. He needs to play smart.

    My opinion is that AB is truly a stud when he plays with Ben. They have excellent chemistry and AB fits the system perfect. AB is not, however, a truly elite WR like Julio, AJG, etc. I think he's more of a system guy. I agree with you, make AB honour his contract, tag him, tag him a 2nd time if necessary and if Ben is done at that point, work on a trade and sign type deal. I don't believe AB will be worth the money with a mediocre QB, I just don't think he's good enough, but he's going to command huge money. If Bryant gets his stuff together, we could get by with him as our WR1 and we could draft or sign someone else to be the WR2. We could save a lot of money by not giving Brown a long term deal, but that's just talk, I know it will never happen like that.
    Brown will get a huge deal, he'll flourish as long as Ben is in town, then he'll be good, not great, once Ben is done (unless we instantly get another elite QB somehow).

    I seriously have more faith in us playing injury free football than I do in Bryant ever getting his crap together. Irritating but just how I see it as it stands right now.
