We came into this Ravens game looking to establish the run. It was pretty effective. D.Will had a lot of great runs in the first half and throughout the game.

The problem is that our running takes too long to score points.

We should have come out passing from the beginning. We have three very talented WRs, a great TE, and Williams who can catch out of the backfield. We only passes last week against the Broncos who had the best CB tandem in the league and the top ranked pass defense, and defense in the league.

But we come out running against the Ravens. Our passing game scores point either by getting TDs through the air or setting them up on the ground.

You may point to the INTs today, but it wasn't until we were in desperate mode time that Ben was rushing throws and being too aggressive.

If you want to assign blame, perhaps include Bryant, who can't seem to catch anything anymore or make any "splash" plays. Perhaps blame the forcing of the ball to Brown late in the game when we needed plays, but throwing to him is generally a good idea. Perhaps not getting Heath involved until it was too late.

All of these "blames" would likely have been averted if we had a passing gameplan going into this game, not a running gameplan.

The other key element is this. We know the defense is bad and is going to give up a bunch of yards. But if our offense scores fast and puts the D on the field longer, that means more potential opportunities for a sack or turnover. We didn't do that today because our drives took forever. We could/would have scored more had we been passing with an up-tempo gameplan from the start.

But Tomlin gets too involved in these "rivalry" smashmouth things and assumes the game should be a hardhitting grinder. It doesn't have to be. We just defeated a much better team in the Broncos by passing down their throats.

Oh well. Maybe next year if Rex doesn't get his team ready to go next week.
