Why isn't Avery Williamson being brought to camp to replace Vince?

You sure you're talking about AW? Spillane was the guy who hit Derrick Henry like a freight train.

That was what I was getting at maybe should have made the distinction that in one thread he dismissed Spillane making a hell of a play with unblocked and 7 yard headscarf and this one tackles only matter if in the right context.

and missed tackles. 12 for Vince and 6 for aw. Only 4 missed here. A W was also not here for most of the year and learning the defense on the fly midseason.

I don't think Avery Williamson is a splash player, but he is a solid, serviceable pro. Bring him back if the price is right.

Like I said earlier those 52 tackles were over 8 games played.

1sst game he played 8 plays. 1 solo tackle.
2nd game he played 11 plays. 0 stats.
3rd game he played 24 plays. 2 solo tackles.
    4th game he played 38 plays. 9 tackles. 6 solo. 1 TFL.
5th game he played 67 plays. first start. 11 tackles. 9 solo.
    6th game he played 51 plays. 2nd start. 7 tackles. 4 solo.
    7th game he played 55 plays. 3rd start. 14 tackles. 9 solo. 1 sack. 2 TFL.
    8th game he played 55 plays. 4th start. 8 tackles. 6 solo.

those first games were not full games played, so your claim is just as misleading. 40 of those 52 came in his 4 starts, when he saw significant time. so yes he did squat compared to your claim he didn't do squat.

So he had 40 tackles in four starts. And 52 in total games played for the Steelers. Yeah I already knew all the stuff. Williamson wasn’t absolute garbage last year, but I’m struggling to remember anything he actually did and that was my original point.

over their careers so far, williamson has been the better of the two linebackers and i wouldn't have a problem if he came back but not at a high cost. we have to stop with these one year signings as well i think. it may be alright to have some of these guys play this year but it has to weaken us down the road with dead money and then no replacements again next year. i'd rather see us sign some guys to longer then a year to build on.

The Steelers have like $12M in cap space, right? They're probably trying to exhaust options before making the move. Avery wasn't very good last season and doesn't fit their scheme well. Decent option but they may be able to find better.

I think they should try to get a more athletic ILB than Williamson, he doesn't offer anything is pass coverage.

They might have Melvin Ingram play a lot of ILB in addition to OLB...
