Why has DuPree not signed anywhere yet?

I just can't see how Bud can sign with us before the draft knowing that Tomlin and company are spending so many of their Pro Days scouting Edge players.

I am still pointing to the Iowa State pro day where Tomlin, Colbert, Austin, and Dan Rooney JR. were all there looking at Will McDonald. And yes I know Day 3 Safety Anthony Johnson may have been an additional reason the Steelers sent the house to Iowa State, but I still think it was for scouting for an Alex Highsmith eventual replacement.

Bud at this point is better waiting for the draft

The draft is not far off the Steelers may have brought him in to do the homework and if they are interested immediately after the draft they can pull the trigger quickly

Amazing how NO teams but the Steelers brought him in for a look see. Wonder why? Left with no contract. Guess he was told he would not be in the cards to start and he would just be a role player. Plus no reports of his injury status after the physical. And i'm sure the price the Steelers are looking to pay was bottom tier.

I agree, you do not send 'the house' for a day 3 prospect. Its obvious there are a couple of immediate needs on this team, but a team can get into trouble reaching for 'that' need..most recently Artie Burns, than drafting BPA for a 'lessor' immediate need. The effort to re-sign Highsmith will not stop if they draft an edge high, but the reality of what they can afford and what his market is will make the choice of that pick more understandable.

According to Dulac financial terms weren’t even discussed and that won’t even start until they are certain of his health

If/when healthy he could very well be here

What if he told his agent his list was the Steelers and that's it?

I don't believe this for a second. They didn't stay an extra day because they were driving across country in a station wagon going to all the pro days.

They could have easily been back home the next day after the Iowa pro day; no Something or Someone caused them all to show up at Iowa State.

He didn’t play hard the first time around when he was on a rookie deal. His motor sucks only runs 35% of the time

Even his rookie year he had a heck of a motor he just over ran most plays

He was easy to block out of the way by just directing his own motion the wrong way

In his 7 year career he played to his expected level in year 4 and most of year 5 before his unfortunate injury late in the season.

It’s seemed like an eternity for him to put it all together.

I was almost going to put him in the Jarvis Jones category until he put it together in year 4.

I think if the moon and stars aligned concerning his health combined with him being on board with the edge structure/plan he’d be a great asset in the vet roll with a team he’s so familiar with. He could solidify his career legacy and still bolster his personal bank account by buying into the mission.

    Thoughts and prayers…

I can only shake My Head when people say negative things about Dupree....Yet stand up for Edmunds. LoL. Some Guys got to play across from TJ their whole career , and some had to play across from Moats, Jarvis Jones, and a old worn out J. Harrison. With out ever watching a game ....people should be able to see a different LoL.

You don't know what you're talking about, just because Dupree took time to develop doesn't mean he didn't play hard . He had one of the quickest get offs in the league, he might have been better against the run than TJ.

Some of it was the fact our head coach (defensive guru) played TJ and Dupree on the opposite side of where they played in college. That was 95% of the problem

No, it really wasn't. It was part of the problem, but not nearly that much.

Jones was actually a bit like Edmunds. At times, he wasn't a bad player, but he never came close to playing up to his draft status. First-round draft picks should be impact players and Jones, at his best, was a below-average starter.

Dupree always showed flashes of his potential, but he had to learn to harness his abilities better. Injuries also held him back. Moving him to the right side helped, too, though it was just part of the puzzle.

Jones was a far bigger disappointment to me than Edmunds. Maybe it’s because I could see on his college game highlight reel that most of his sacks seemed more circumstantial and fortunate rather than high quality sacks where he created most of the splash.

I’m no scout, but I felt like I could see he was more bust than boom from outer space.

Atleast Edmunds looked the part athletically too. Jones looked soft.

Signed a 1 Yr deal with ATL.

Best of luck, Bud. We got the best 2 years out of him, it was only 2 years as his first 2 were patty cake years. Hated it when he tore his ACL. We made the right decisions here, in letting him walk and in not re-signing him. Alex will get a nice 4 year extension. He has been healthy, gotten better each year, is a solid B OLB. They all can't be HOF'rs, he will be at least a 2 contract Stiller.

Yep. Highsmith is a good solid OLB in the mold of Clark Haggans and Jason Worilds.
