Who would you want as OC if the Steelers pulled the rip on Canada?

There are always outliers. Lance came from a small school, very minimal experience, and from the outset most everyone knew it would take 2 years to get him to speed. The risk/reward in today's NFL, with limited CAP time and all the unseen issues you may encounter, and the cost for moving up was pretty dumb. IDK if Shanahan's success made them think it was worth it, but the gamble did not pay off, except for those teams who got those picks. That they lucked into Purdy is of course part of the draft experience, you just never know from top to bottom.

Apparently there are a lot of people in here who could do the job. Let's interview this forums class of brilliant thinkers.

Bring Munchak in right now, call him assistant head coach or run game coordinator or whatever, and I’d be one happy camper!

I totally agree. I'm just pointing out even awesome coaches can only do so much, and I believe You, and I believe Shanahan is a awesome OC at the very least.

Since it's up for speculation when this " pulling of the rip" would take place I'm going to go with Mark Whipple whom I'm surprised no one has mentioned. Maybe it's because he's up there in age, but he's the one Kenny has had the most success with since his freshman year in college up til now, and he's been with the Steelers organization in the past (QB coach for Ben during SB year) )...unless they parted ways on bad terms. At minimum he would be the best in season candidate because Kenny would be familiar with his system and could probably pick up on it quickly with some adaptations to the pro level. Who knows he may be retired already so it may be a moot point. Just a thought though

People really need to get over that quote. What is a head coach supposed to say when a backup needs to fill in for a starter? "The backup sucks, so expect him to suck"

Cannot agree more, most quotes have a short shelf life, but when you make THAT quote, when your recent accomplishments have been mediocre at best, then the same results continue, then the quote becomes the standard, until a new modem is set. It might get better, or worse, but for now we are that standard, which is where this organization continues to dwell.

Couldn't hurt to get another perspective from someone who understands
Offensive football which includes route trees and running lanes
    And general philosophy.

Not sure if Whipples name has been brought up. Don’t know much about him other than Kenny played his best season with him.

I'm not opposed to it. But even if ben would, I don't think he has anything drawn up. If he was a QB coach at least, I could see it.

That's one I like to see happen "if" steelers kicked Canada. But i see them doing it within, "if" they did it.

But i more so see them just going to continue to ride with Canada.

They won't hire someone until after the season. I feel it will be Mike Sullivan interim if Jet Sweep 10 play is let go. We can only hope. Like others mentioned at the bye.

At the least he will include all his assistant coaches in the game planning in which Jet Sweep 10 play doesn't.

This offense is dysfunctional and it falls on the failure Jet Sweep 10 play.

There are 31 other teams that do not want Todd Haley in any form of coaching

I mentioned Jon Gruden on the Universe forum and that got immediately burned to the ground.

What about a coach like Jeff Stoutland then? He’s been the OL coach and run game coordinator for the Eagles since 2013. Obviously has the experience for the job.

I brought this up before....because even though I thought He was pretty good....it's funny that nobody wants Him, and therefore I have to believe it's character issue, and not a knowledge issue.

Someone in the Shanahan, Andy Reid tree or someone on the Eagles staff would be a good idea

Todd Haley is overrated....Yes he is much better that what the steelers have right now but this is still a big no.He did some good thing with us,his system was good but his playcalling was very frustrating at times
