Can have all the WRs you want. Without a QB it doesn’t matter.

look at Vikings. Look at Cincy when Burrow is out.

name a Pats WR aside from an old Diggs. Name a Bills wideout.

Fair enough on Boston. Disagree on the comp though. What made Larry Fitzgerald so special was that he could manipulate coverages along with DBs while being a Super Freak in terms of his acceleration and deceleration. Boston isn't even close to being nearly as twitched up, as explosive or as fast as Larry Fitz was.

I think everyone acknowledges that they need a long term QB but they probably can’t fix that this offseason where they are likely to be drafting.

A legit WR that can get open and make plays would be a big help to whoever is playing QB in 2026, be it Rogers or someone else.

Luckily we have several months to sort that out. I think he is very twitchy.

Another nice option could be a TE, Kenyon Sadiq, to give us more explosion and leverage out of stance in blocking schemes, as well as the playmaking on passing plays.
We miss a lot of blocking assignments due to Washington and Muth not being fast enough.

Ravens are definitely not better on defense than these Browns. Ravens have no edges. We can score against the Ravens well when we had DK at least.

You can make the case they need to draft two receivers the only ones under contract for 2026 are Metcalf, Wilson, and Skowronek. Or maybe they sign one in free agency and draft one.

I agree we need to find a guy that can consistently get open underneath and the intermediate routes. I like Lemon he is feisty. He reminds me of Amonraw St. Brown or Steve Smith.

I don’t like drafting an ilb at all. We can’t develop the ones we have. Our defensive system is not kind to that position. We put smallish safety type guys in there now and ask them to take on blockers. They aren’t built for that. They win with speed not standing flat footed and reacting. One of those guys should be going forward blowing up their assigned gap every other play. They play best when going forward.

Yes I think that’s what they should do. I like Jauan Jennings. Not to old, big, savvy route runner, good hands, great blocker and mean. My only concern is everyone gets open in Shannahans offense. How effective would he be in our less innovative run heavy offense.

Again though, Sonny Styles is once in a generation for a reason. There isn't a scheme that would limit his overall abilities; Pittsburgh included. He has more than enough size to not only take on but quickly and efficiently disengage blockers repeatedly on running downs. He is a savant in coverage as well. As far as tackling?!

Say hello to one of the best tackling ILB Prospects to come out since Luke Kuechly. I am not kidding about that either. His missed tackle rate is absurdly, if not comically low. He isn't going to miss once he reads his keys. Given how Patrick Queen basically misses roughly 17% of the time in 2025, I'd say it would be a solid start there if the team wants more sure tacklers on the second level.

Bear in mind though that, considering how comically rare Sonny's overall set of athleticism, skillset, talent and potential are for an ILB, he will be long gone by then.

    Huh?!

Darnell Washington is easily one of the best blocking Tight Ends to come out in over a decade. Not since Mercedes Lewis has a Tight End been damn good at blocking; dominant at times. Losing Darnell Washington will prove to be massive.

Now, as far as Kenyon Sadiq goes?! Unless Freiermuth and Jonnu Smith are gone in 2026, I don't see that happening. Even if the team elects to move on from one of them, I doubt that the Steelers will invest a First Round Pick on a Tight End. Not saying Kenyon is not worth such a pick (he is) but he isn't the player that Pittsburgh needs at present.

Darnell is slow on pull blocks. Muth also lacks explosion to reach the quicker edge defenders, nickels, safeties. I think the Steelers were looking for more speed when they acquired Jonnu, but could not get him the snaps in the run heavy offense.

We could also trade up for Tate. I think Reese, Tate, Styles, and probably Downs will go top 15. If we want Tate we will hate to trade up.

Agreed. I actually think the Browns D is better. They kept Josh Allen in check most of the day and could have won that game.

CB. Unfortunately, there's no one here to develop one.

Giants are currently picking 2. With Mendoza and Moore available, they may dangle Dart as trade bait. Would we trade a first and more for Dart?

    True.

At some point, the Steelers need to trade out of the first round and get a future round 1 pick. Then they can use that and their own round 1 pick as the required ammo to move up for their guy.

without an upgrade at QB; it doesn’t change anything.

I guess the offense will feel smoother but it won’t matter.

Vikings have Jefferson and Addison with a bad QB.

A good QB upgrades the entire roster. Likely makes existing WR room look better.

That is because his punches are too conservative and he won't throw them straight down the middle. :lolol:

Yeah, I’ve been thinking about this approach as well. This draft is unlikely to produce a future QB1 at our draft position (maybe at any draft position). 2027 looks richer, though at this time last year the 2026 draft was looking good for QBs.

I have a hard time seeing the Steelers trading out of the 1st round during a draft in Pittsburgh though.

My wishlist for the 1st round every draft is mostly the same thing. If the QB is there draft him. If not QB, get someone to either protect the QB or rush the QB. We need an elite LG currently. I would not be against drafting another LT should one be there. As far as 'Rush the QB', this can be any blue chip defender at any defensive position. DL, LB, or DB.

Do we need WRs? Yes. But...WRs do not move the needle until other things are in place. GP was a great pick and we got him in round 2.

I think that article's stats are overly harsh. PFR has few full-time linebackers above 17% - one of which is Herbig (17.5%), but of course he's not FT. Queen is sitting at 12.5%, but that should improve slightly since he only missed one tackle (if that SD article is correct).

That puts him in the generally solid category, which seems right to me in watching him. Queen posted better numbers when he was beside Roquan in Baltimore, but that was more the tandem that Queen being an elite player on his own.

I would go DE/DT again in the first. BPA. Mendoza will be gone.. so wait until 2027 to draft a QB. Steelers may need another late season collapse next year to get Popcorn fired.

WRs grow on trees these days... so we can get a good one in the 2nd.
