I love Black Pepper, I put it on everything. It is my go-to seasoning.

I bought a new Black Pepper Grinder today and read the labelling on the box. "Great on beef, chicken, pork, & salads"

"Salads".... WTF. I have never thought about asking someone to pass the pepper when I was served a salad. Am I missing something; Is this some Canadian thing?

It’s not a canadien thing and it’s great.I’m pretty sure every nice restaurant I’ve eaten at offers fresh ground black pepper for salad course. Not Applebee’s, Chili’s, outback, Olive Garden….. those aren’t nice.just cheap with big portions

Yes. A good EVOO, a bit of salt, black pepper and a splash of red wine vinegar. Or as someone else suggested, black pepper on a Caesar.

WOW... I guess I have been missing something from all these positive reviews of black pepper on salad.

I will have to try this with my next salad then.

Agreed. They used to do it here too but, with people getting salmonella from eggs, it's not done anymore. Although, I'm told, they still do it at the restaurant in Tijuana that claims to have invented it.

Unfortunately, my wife HATES black pepper and can taste it 1 part per billion. So, I can't add it as I toss the salad (calm down, not THAT kind of salad tossing!)

I swear this country could screw up a wet dream. We are one of the few countries that refrigerate eggs. We wash them which removes the cuticle. The cuticle actually prevents the eggs from being infected with bacteria.we wash that off and have to refrigerate or run the risk of salmonella. Subsequently raw eggs are viewed as a risk for salmonella poisioning as well.

There's a restaurant in town that was known for decades for doing a tableside salad lazy susan. You could pick your ingredients like a mobile salad bar. Thanks to Covid, they don't do it anymore.

Dude...I don't ever think about putting it on Mine, but I have eaten many places where they automatically put it on the salad.

One of my biggest post covid dissapointing dining experiences was in Kansas City last year after the Chiefs-Steelers game, my brother and I with his daughter and boyfriend went to a Brazilian Steakhouse, and they didn't do the whole table skewer of meat service thing. Gone was the Red/Green flipper thing with servers coming by with giant skewers of meat offering it until you said stop. In its place, they brought you a menu and you would order off it. Still all you could eat, but completely ruined the fun experience of eating at a Brazilian Steakhouse.

Agree to disagree - can't do a Wedge Salad without a good firm half head of iceberg - a very trendy menu item in finer restaurants here in CA topped with all kinds of bacon and chunks of other good toppings. Some of those other "designer" lettuces, no thank you, pure rabbit food.

Really. I didn't even know it caused heartburn.
