Tomlin is the only thing holding this team together right now. Guy has done an outstanding job of coaching this season.

    Hey thesteeldeal.

I admit I did not watch the game yesterday. However, I did post after the Brown's game that Mason has a shorter leash and even shorter if he "underperforms" against the Bengals. I guess he did. I saw the pick. It looked like it was tipped as the pocket was collapsing on him (that is never good). Either way he was not lighting it up before or after that play.

If he is getting "Happy Feet", "Cement feet", Athlete's Feet (smile), whatever back there, then the coaching staff has to help him. Since we are not using our TEs ("un-freakin-believable") then go to some Max-Protect with him and Duck for that matter. If this is a confidence thing, and he is worried about getting "Hammered-Timed" back there, then the coaching staff has to do all that they can to make him feel more confident when asked to pass. Otherwise, he will have an onslaught of negative thoughts running through his head.

If the Browns can’t beat the Steelers with their 3rd string QB, starting WR, starting RB, and starting center all not playing with a healthy team which the Browns have then they will never do it. The Steelers D will rise up and avenge this loss in Cleveland from

He continues to throw from his back foot and a firm breeze in his face causes a Hindenburg! BOOM!

Well he was 4-4 early on but that went downhill quick after the INT. DeCastro needs to do a better job and not get walked back like that, but it happens. As far as the TEs....a complete mystery and disappearing act. They’re not even using them to chip to help AV. So where and what are they doing? I know I’ve mentioned it already but the Hodges throw to JW was the cleanest pocket I’ve seen in weeks. As we know the correlation between actual sacks and pressure aren’t always equal. The actual time to throw and let’s say the “condition “ of the pocket don’t always equate either. Yes MR can do a better job manipulating the pocket to get better passing lanes but it’s clearly not his strength especially right now. MT even touched upon having a quality pocket to throw from in a recent Q and A. Even if MR was currently adept at stepping up in the pocket , there is nothing to step into. It’s collapsing around him.

I’m not ready to give up on MR but I agree with you that maybe his emotions are taking a toll. Cleveland is just not a good match up for him this week for a few reasons. Hodges does offer that mobility like many have said and with the current performance of the OL that can only help right now. Like the saying goes....you never know what worse luck your bad luck saves you from. I think MR is having a tough bad luck streak right now. Sitting back and watching may be the best thing for him right now.

    Hey thesteeldeal.

From everything that you stated, it is the usage, or lack thereof the TEs, that are really getting to me. What are the coaches plans here for them each week. They have become totally "obsolete" and really have served no purpose this whole season. What gives here management?

    Hey Stone.

Yes, I too have noticed, and commented, on the "back-foot" issue before. This is not a good thing. He has to become more mobile back there when things are falling apart.

What I don't like about Mason is he consistently seems to be throwing behind receivers that are open. I don't know if it's inaccuracy, poor technique, or just the pressure getting to him, but almost half of his passes seem to have poor placement and not out in front where the receiver can make a play. He especially doesn't have any accuracy on the deep ball. We do have some speed at WR, and need someone that can drop in those deep throws.

The best pass that Duck threw was an intentional incompletion from Cincinnati’s 30. The Cincinnati’s DB had jumped the route and it would have been a pick 6 if Duck had forced a completion. Most rookies and many veterans would have forced that pass. Duck showed situation awareness. For that reason and the fact that he beat San Diego away are enough for him to earn a nod over Mason. Duck gets no respect. First, he’s undrafted after breaking records. He would be unbeaten in games he’s appeared in if JuJu had not fumbled on the final drive against Ravens. He deserves a starting nod.

Agreed. Who knows how we'll talk about Duck in two weeks but I'm glad we're giving him opportunities.

i can't take another game of Rudolph throwing half his passes blindly while in the process of being tackled by a defender. you can blame the o-line all you want.. the guy has terrible pocket presence, can't spot a blitz coming, and holds the ball way too long.
