What we saw is nothing new with this team. I know there's a few older threads from the last 2 years here that we've said the same stuff I'm putting below.

When you see a receiver uncovered and god old Tom Brady is calling for a quick snap your first thought should be "call a TO!"

When the ball is lose and you saw it pop out, you should probably get to the ball faster than the TE that was further away.

When you're playing a QB that throws a lot of quick passes and you're not getting pressure on him, get your damn hands up into the passing lanes!

Try to come in at a correct angle to make the tackle! Wrap up and bring the guy down!

This stuff isn't rocket science and they keep telling us how athletic and speedy this team is, but the basics are not happening!

What are they doing in practice? What kind of mental preps are happening? If the current method isn't getting it done maybe they need to rethink how they approach these things?

wheres the smart coach?...our useless kicker just missed a 44 yarder by and mile...then Moron Tomlin gives the guy another try at 46, instead of going for it on 4th down...now they just gave the cheats mid field 2 plays in a row

To be fair, Garvin was trying to call a TO when he saw Gronk going uncovered at the goal-line. Nobody saw him though.

One thing that bothered me was when Ben was complaining about the mid cadence shift which drew the false start, he said that they had seen them do stuff like that on film.

    Hello, Bueller!!!

Good players that play dumb look like bad players. We're a stupid football team and we have been for years. We make the dumbest mistakes I've ever seen from a pro team and we constantly make them. Our clock management skills are embarrassing. I can't believe the coaches and Ben continue to mangle the clock. I can't believe nothing has been done to fix that yet. Does nobody in the whole franchise see that issue? If Tomlin can't fix it, then bring in someone to mentor him on how to manage a cock. It's unreal that a coach can't figure it out by now, but clearly he can't and obviously never will.

Shaner I have been asking this for 9 years and he still doesn't get it.
I am sick and tired of it. We are severely out manned by quality coaching staff's. We will never when a coaching battle (preparedness) with quality coaches. And yet the Rooney's let him get away with it??????WHY

This is probably my biggest problem with Tomlin. I would NEVER have Suisham kick from outside 45. Tomlin seems to all the time. Now he is doing the same thing with a kicker he doesn't know. Steelers also have a very inexperienced punter in Berry.

Special Teams has been an afterthought under Tomlin.

Need I remind you Shaner that both cowher and noll were accused of being poor clock managers

How about Ben, with 38 seconds left in the game, he lets the clock run down to 13 before calling a TO, in most of these situations the head coach would call a TO, bad clock management by both ben and mt...

Probably because of 2 SB appearances and high winning percentage. Just spit balling here.

We do make dumb mistakes and he is a terrible clock manager but if you're looking for perfection, going to be disappointed for a long time.

Yep, but what makes it so frustrating is that the dumb mistakes and terrible clock management is basic little league or high school stuff and should be easily fixed.

Agree that the clock management absolutely should be fixed, no excuses for that. The dumb mistakes, not so sure that is on Tomlin, only because its a little hard to believe that not one position coach can get through to the players either, I tend to put that on the players. Some players have high football IQ's and others, not so much.

Dumb happens everywhere, and it is hard to understand. Onside kick to start overtime? Throwing a pass instead of holding on to it to let the clock run at then end of the game? It ain't just the Steelers, folks. Dumb abounds everywhere. Football players, and coaches, aren't the brightest.

The Rooney's are paying these guys MILLIONS, to do their job,
clock mgmt is one of their job duties. This has been going on the whole Mike Tomlin era. How come he gets a free pass?He gets a free pass on anything, defense plays bad, the people blame Butler/ Lake. Never old MT. MT is sort of like these CEO at these large fortune 500 co, company is continuously losing money yet he is still receiving his 13 million/yr while laying off the guy/women making 60. And he gets the golden retirement package after their fleecing of an iconic company. Where is MT creativity, thinking out of the box strategy. Does anybody know's MT core values?
