We have a family get together every year where we BBQ a bunch of meat, have some adult beverages, have a fire and light off a bunch of fireworks.

What are your 4th of July plans? Cooking out? Watching some fireworks? Working? Holding an umbrella?

Oh, just the usual. It involves a bottle or whiskey, a pair of handcuffs, 2 20 ft. lengths of rope, a portable generator, vice clamps, some kanthal wire, 2 sets of leads, a gallon of maple syrup, 2 beehives, 5 tubs of KY, a nun's habit, a well fed Badger, and a spoon...

    nah. :lolol:

Pretty much the same here. Heading over to the folks house for some grub, etc.

Take my kayak out into the bay for some fishing and then watch the fireworks from there.

Sounds like you throw one hell of a shindig, but you may be a little light on the KY. :hmmm:

Kayak fishing is a mountain of fun. It's cheap when compared to the cost of owning and maintaining a boat. It's also a lot more flexible than a boat in that I can fish in rivers, ponds, lakes, offshore, inshore....

I've been a handful of times. In Seward, AK fishing for salmon, and a bunch of times in Newport, RI. I'd do it on a regular basis if I could.

My buddy got a little kayak that he can fish in and he loves it. He takes it out probably once a week at least. It just seems to me like it would be a lot of work since you have to paddle it wherever you take it and he'll take it out in the lake and get really far from the launch. Is that what you guys did too?

Exactly. It can be work depending on how hard the wind is blowing, but it's decent exercise. Not to mention if you hook anything big you can go for a bit of a sleigh ride.
