Have you ever had shrimp and grits at a good Southern restaurant? My wife and I went to Texas last week, and we had shrimp and grits at a place in Galveston that was really tasty.

Not sure what I’m having yet. Probably kung po chicken.

Had good alligator there many moons ago.

Don't feel like sitting in a bar so I'll follow on the radio and this board while eating tacos.

I find grits tasteless but to be fair I'm a northerner (although technically below the Mason/Dixon line) and had only a few times. Grits are not on many menu's up North.

Tipton : No self-respectin' Southerner uses instant grits. I take pride in my grits. Vinny Gambini : So, Mr. Tipton, how could it take you five minutes to cook your grits, when it takes the entire grit-eating world twenty minutes?

When i make grits even with shrimp i tend to cook and add crumbled sausage, add cheese, green onion, hot pepper with 3 or 4 over easy eggs on top in a bowl. a big bowl. Naptime!!!!

Not sure for the game. Leaning towards a savory bread pudding.
    Chorizo or mutton

grits be good. i was raised on eating grits and i am from ohio. there used to be more breakfast places that carried them but for some reason they quit.

i went to eat n park one morning awhile back and they used to have grits on their breakfast bar, but during covid they quit having it. i ordered breakfast off the menu and asked the waitress if they still had grits because it wasn't on the menu anymore. she said i'll ask. she came back and said the kitchen never heard of them. next thing i know the manager came out with a bowl of them and said she heard the conversation and made me a bowl herself. she said we have them but those kids (cooking and waitressing) didn't even know what they were. :smiley1::cool:

Well yeah, grits may have only a little bit of flavor themselves, but they are great with sauces. Good shrimp and grits will have a flavorful sauce, not just plain grits with plain shrimp. The one that my wife had in Galveston (with an eating assist by me) had butter and a poblano pepper cream sauce. We also split a shrimp and grits in Houston that had a mildly spicy creole sauce. Both made the grits very flavorful.

I went to a little hotel in Macon GA and had fantastic shrimp and grits

Next time I was in Macon the restaurant was closed for good

I tried making it myself once and didn’t like it but this is the beginning of two weeks of shrimp and I bought the grits

And on a side note I love kung Pao chicken I even grow kung Pao peppers

There apparently is a lot of room for variation

My daughter is home from college this weekend, and her favorite restaurant is Bibibop, so she asked if we could pick that up for lunch, so for us, Bibibop it is this week. I do like their spicy chicken bowls with purple rice, I have to admit.

Seafood is amazing in Jacksonville. I loved my time on Mayport Road and trips to Atlantic Beach.

As for what I'm cooking, probably fried potatoes and eggs

He is a she and she constantly thinks she is starving

One thing she is not getting is Cajun spiced shrimp or chorizo

That would not come out well in the end

    So to speak

Pretty much. Italian sausage, pepperoni, onions, green, and black olives. Although I think I put sweet peppers on the Ravens one, and ran out of them so didn't on the Rams one.

Mexican chorizo is like raw ground sausage that can be bought bulk like breakfast sausage or in links like hot sausage

Spanish chorizo is dried and cured like a pepperoni

Both have Mexican spices like red Chile oregano and vinegar
