What could Ebron bring on the trade market?

With PF and Gentry showing strong, along with Radar
and Watt capable of filling in if needed. Could we deal Eric Ebron for draft picks
that will be needed for Sam Howell?

Ben likes Ebron at TE. Don't see it happening.

Its not a bad idea. Not sure what the return would be. Probably a 5th round pick on the high end. 6th rounder on the low end. Possibly even a player for player deal. Maybe for a veteran corner.

I do not know other team's roster depth at TE position. I was hoping a better return than what you mentioned
and no players coming bac. We need draft capital.

Seeing he’s on the 2nd yr of a 2-yr contract. You’re only getting him for this yr. so I can’t imagine you’ll get much for him. A 5th/6th rounder is probably the best you can expect. And maybe not even that.

I'd wait until closer to the trade deadline to see how PF looks when the lights are on. But if the Steelers are 3-4 or worse with a brutal final 9 games looming, I'd hold a fire sale for the future. Heyward, Ben, JuJu, Ebron...basically, anyone that's not in the long term plans.

Ebron holds some name value, and that's about it. With the drops he had last year, and really over the course of his career, I dont see his value being much higher than that. Let's also not forget he has a reputation for being oft injured.

They pushed a lot of Ebrons salary in to 2022 already to save cap room. If they trade him that money will vest immediately, costing them $3m in dead cap this year. There is no way he is getting traded.

If he can clean up the drops I think he is a huge asset. Problem is that has always been part of his game bar one outstanding season in 2018. You can’t trust him unfortunately

Yeah, that was my offseason plan, not realistic in season. If they miss the playoffs, though, they'd better not extend all the old guys.

I think the Dolphins did recently pretty much a fire sale everything must go and got quite a haul on draft picks too

You won't get much for Ebron, he's the last year of his contract and he doesn't block, and drops too many passes.

That was not worn out vet though. The majority of those picks came from Minkah and Tunsil.

They traded a running back to the Cardinals too didn't they? I didn't mean to split hairs but as far fetched as a fire sale seems in the NFL there are instances of teams doing things along those lines. I mean the biggest that comes to mind is Washington since Snyder has owned the team. Not so much trading away aging players but signing FA stars who then don't mesh and shedding them a year or two later to sign other big name FA.

Miami has only made the playoffs once in the past 12 years, twice in 19 years.
Over that time frame, they've had 3-4 losing seasons after each playoff appearance.

I wouldn't use them as a strategy to follow, until they can sustain success.

They came off worst in the Minkah deal IMO given how good he has become. The player they picked with that first round selection Austin Jackson has hardly set the world alight either.

The real win was the Tunsil trade. Houston gave up a crazy haul for Tunsil. It was complete and utter lunacy from Bill O’Brien. The Dolphins have been wheeling and dealing the picks they got back and the whole thing has set them up really nicely. The 2021 first rounder they got from that deal was a top five pick that they were able to trade to SF for multiple other first rounders!

They were mostly just insanely lucky with how it all worked out for them. It’s not repeatable and it’s certainly not a template to follow.

Again guys I want to state here I'm not suggesting that anyone follow the Dolphins approach to roster building and I agree with all of you. I'm just saying as Madden Football as it seems they did do some wheeling and dealing of their assets in a very unusual way.

As basically a one year rental, Ebron would not bring much. I’d like to see him traded to a Chinese restaurant so he could make egg drop soup. From what I’ve seen of him, he should be good at that. Wish they could put him on the practice squad where he could do no harm.

They have worked their draft capital brilliantly, totally agree. But the reason they were able to do it largely came down to blind luck rather than strategy.

They must have been laughing their asses off after they traded Laremy Tunsil to Houston. The deal was bonkers from Houston’s side and it only got worse for them after they sucked hard in 2020 even after adding Tunsil, and missed out on a top 5 pick. That horrendous deal was soon to be overshadowed by the deal they did with Arizona for Hopkins of course. How they didn’t relieve O’Brien of his duties long before he was allowed to do all that damage to the team is anyone’s guess. I was astonished at the stupidity of it as it was happening and I am no expert by any means.

We shall see how well that works for them. IMO they started it bad with the Qb pick.

Well put. It seems to be working for the Dolphins rarely because the Texans did something stupid.
