Remember people this is JUST 1 game, in a very hostile envirnoment against a HOF QB.
With 4 of our starters out of action, and we still had a chance to win with 2 minutes
left in the game.Is there room for improvement? Absolutlley, as Coach T says
we will get back in the lab and look at things. Remember people there are young players out
there, that are now starting that are going to make mistakes. We will get it ironed out,
The sun will come up tomorrow just like it always does and the Steelers will straighten out
some things and we will go from there. Its a long season, lets revisit this after about
lets say week 4, then if we need to ***** about things we will. They made more plays then we did tonight.

:this!: Although, I think we can revisit it each week. Last year, we went 12-3 after the debacle on opening night. While the score was closer and we had time to win the game, there were quite a few parallels on defense. One huge difference, in my mind, was that last year's embarrassment was at home and this year it was on the road, in a VERY difficult stadium. It was pretty easy to see that the crowd noise was affecting the offense. While that is not an excuse - it was a factor. Let's see how they play against the Jets and continue on. I don't think any of us will complain if we go 12-3 from here on out.

Exactly...2 minutes left we can tie or win. Is there problems..absolutely....I seriously question the overuse of Rainey in the opening game. Not just as a decoy for possible end a round/screen but even the final drive for a possible tie/win. Dwyer should have had twice as many touches in my opinion and we should have thrown on 1st down at least once in the 1st half. Also when Gilbert was being worked on for knee injury I couldn't help notice how heavy our line looked....not big,strong,solid,etc....heavy.

Sorry Ward, you were really close with the quote but there's no mention of the Steelers in the Annie theme song.

We will be fine. The defense without Harrison and Clark gave up 24 points yes. But, thisis Peyton Manning and if you limit him to 24 points you have a shot, and the Steelers did have a shot and that's all you could ask for. I knew this was going to be a hard game. 1.Playing in Denver is hard, good crowd high altitude etc. 2.Peyton Manning had something to prove, and prove it he did. 3.I hate to used injuries as an excuse, but two starting linemen went down, prior to that happening Ben was getting good protection at times.

    There were many postives.

Ball management, that was some awesome ball control and clock management, but the Steelers have to get touchdowns and not field goals, field goals will beat an average team or bad team, but not a good team. Denver is pretty loaded on defense, Ben moved the ball well against a great pass rushing team and their great corners.

Suisham put every ball into the endzone.
Larry Foote was the best player of defense. Some questioned his ability.

Don't give up guys, this was much less worse than the opening game last season. Remember all that doom and gloom and we still went 12-4 in the Regular season.

The last two Super bowl winners were 9-7. You just have to peak at the right time.

Best quip of the day, quoted by Peter King in MMQB in SPORTS ILLUSTRATED:

I dont feel like I am overreacting....but I have to say, I didnt feel good about this game and it pretty much went as I expected. I really dont have alot of confidence in our defense and what I saw in preseason didnt do much to change my mind. Im not saying we will not win a single game or that they will play like this every time. It was nice to see Heath get involved and to not run it up the gut at the goaline every time.

I live here too, the republics sport page was just drooling over the cards win over the lowly seahawks, but they have to go on the road to the patriots this week, and next sunday the cheers will turn to tears. Dont overlook the jets, they put up 48 points on the bills, and honestly after watching that game the bills defense played about as good as the steeler D so we better not put this jet game in the win column just yet....

Yeah it's always like this after every lost. But the expectations were so high during the off season and the way our defense played was just awful.

Our defense played the same as last year and our offensive is the same.
But we will get it together like we do just about every year. The offense didn't look bad, just need td's and not fg's. Ben got rid of the ball quick and he didn't take a pounding like years before. Unless you count the last 2 minutes of the game.
