Bettis type trade is a once in a quarter century kind of move. Farrior FA signing was kind of on the same level.

It has to be someone very undervalued. Someone who fits our team perfectly. I don't know if they are out there right now.

It seems we have our current players contract to worry about more.

It is for the Steelers...other teams do it fairly regularly....some more successful than others.

Yeah you are correct but I see him in our offense and I think he would be productive. Like you said the Saints doesn't use him because they are all about throwing the ball.

do you honestly think if ingram were any good the saints would possibly give him more than 4 carries a game?

they dont throw that much more than they run....

probably a 3:5 ratio of run to pass and thats about the norm in the nfl

You are correct that he hasn't done nothing but like you mentioned the Saints are strictly a passing team. I think he would be better than Redman and Dwyer.

As irritated as I've been with them this year I'm not TOO sure that's much of an accomplishment. LOL. I think Ingram LOOKS like a Steelers back. But until our line can stay healthy I don't think the Bus could come back and run through it. I would'nt mind having him though. I think Dwyer can be a great backup guy. I think Redman can be a great short yardage guy but I still wish we could find a true workhorse star rb. I don't think either of those guys are that.

The trade that MIGHT work is getting Rolando McClain from Oakland. I think he would fit in to our D.

The Rams felt OK trading Bettis because they had recently drafted Lawrence Phillips. Oops. Those deals don't come along too often.

You're right, they're not going to trade talent unless there is a reason. Like you mentioned that might be a locker room cancer, and under-achiever, OR a coaching change could also be a reason.

A lot of times a new coach will want his own guys, not ones that someone else drafted.

I don't think a bettis type trade is necessary...... what we do need is a blockbuster draft that lands us a bunch of future hall of famers or very solid starters

Actually the Rams drafted Phillips because they wanted rid of Bettis.....Bettis did not fit the new offense.

Not trying to start anything...I know its basically the same thing...but it is slightly different....The Rams went into that draft fully intending to move him.

even if Ingram was "Adrian Peterson like" they would not use him correctly because they want to keep the ball in Brees hand and Payton calling those plays.

Doesnt matter if we drafted OJ simpson, Walter P, Earl Campbell, Jim Brown, or Emmit S., until we fix the OL and get the running backs some blocking and holes, our running game is going to suffer. Finally after 5 yrs, its looks like they are at least trying to fix it. Add into the equation they cant hold on to the ball and theres another problem. My 12 yr old said, they sound do like ??? did when their running backs was fumbling, make em carry a 12 lb bowling ball around all week everywhere they go. Sounds like a good idea.

I think the receivers should get together like Green Bay did and agree to a $250-$500 fine for every dropped pass. Of course, Wallace would need a $20 mil contract then but I good with that if he doesnt drop balls.

As mentioned, the biggest problem I think we have now, theres no leaders on the team. We've lost Hines, Bettis, Joey, Farrior,Smith. If the coaches arent going to get in the faces of the players, the players should be doing it. Sometimes it has more of an impact when you let your friends down.

If my memory serves me right, I am not sure the Bus had secured his legacy
when he was with the Rams, WHEN THE STEELERS PULLED THIS DEAL OFF.
To my recollection Bettis was unwanted by the Rams and the Steelers had seen the
POTENTIAL in him and secured the deal. Maybe my memory was wrong?

This team doesn't need a trade.

What this team needs is to get healthy at the CB position and stay healthy along the offensive line for more than 2 games.
    :frustrated:

    A couple of other possibilities:

    1) It was reported that the Panthers were interested in trading Joathan Stewart. If that's still the case we ought to explore that opportunity.
    2) Regardless of whether or not Wallace is re-signed, we need a number one receiver. Dwayne Bowe anyone?

Unrealstic maybe. But it is Christmas and there's my letter to Santa!
