The Steelers are a classy organization I don’t think anyone would dispute that. The problem is they are no longer a winning one.

Or at least a winning one when it matters.

Wallace was a great pick and did really well here...With that being said, and I will reinterate again...

I don't think many / any people people would dispute Tomlin is a fine man, a cool Dude, a " players " Coach! Treats the players with respect, and frankly someone I would probably want to hang out with!

    But...Being " nice", " respected ", someone the players like...Doesn't matter if you're not a good Coach!

Character issues and being a swell Guy is all fine and dandy...But the bottom line is being " able to motivate, make adjustments, implement a game plan, push your players hard in the pyshical and mental aspect of the game...and have them ready to play!!!!!

Tomlin falls miserably at the " Coaching ' part!

I've never ONCE said the Steelers suck...I think Tomlin sucks! You posted a thread with Wallace stating what a great Coach ( the greatest Coach ) he is...I and many others think and know otherwise!

It comes with the territory, Blast. Don't have us read about ex players and how they feel about Tomlin and expect some of us not to push back.

What’s are you talking about? The topic has nothing to do with that. It’s about playing for this organization, unlike playing for any other team. It’s a special place, that’s the point Wallace is making, one echoed by numerous ex players.

Wallace should be a lesson to other Steelers players. He was offered the "AB" money first, something like 6 yrs./40m and turned it down. I wished the reporter would have asked, do you regret turning down the Steelers offer? From what he said in the article, he does. The grass isn't always greener.

You must be right. Tomlin's name was only mentioned in roughly 30% of the quotes. I guess it really didn't have ANYTHING to do with Tomlin after all.

I know you are the OP on this thread, but to be fair Blast, as long as it's not breaking any forum rules, you kinda have to let the conversation go where it wants to go.

Thought the same, that’s the only thing I think it was missing.

Yikes, some of you guys are really triggered by Tomlin.

There are plenty of bash Tomlin threads they can go post in, no reason to go off topic on this one. It’s about the enjoyment of playing for the Steelers and how other organizations don’t stack up to that experience.

Blast, I apologize. I took a pretty dickish stance there.

I just don't feel that it's the same to play for the Steelers today as it was a decade or more ago. It's nice to hear that we're still thought of as top-notch, though. I just don't buy it.

Thanks Seven. And while I don’t agree with your stance here, I can totally respect that discussion. I’ve always heard that playing for the Steelers is unlike any other organization, I think probably because they tend to treat you like family then a commodity. Players tend to love the Rooneys, most players hate the owners on other teams, maybe I shouldn’t say most but you get the gist of it.

I remember Wallace had a great night game. Against who I'm blank but Deon Sanders interviewed him after the game and told him he has that young man's swagger. I never heard that saying before and have used it ever since, mainly on a golf course.

I can’t believe some of you used this as an opportunity to bash Tomlin. Get over it already.

Great interview with Wallace and his pre and post draft experience with the Steelers. He has always been and still is cool with me. He made a business decision to leave when he did.

    Good read.

The flip side of that type of atmosphere and culture is that when the team has to handle business in a business type way and not like a family it comes as a shock to some players and fans as well. As well as fans on the outside looking at contract negotiations by players and saying that's not how you treat family how dare they not take a hometown discount. But the Steelers way has much more upside than downside.
