Anyone heard anything on this kid in camp? There were a lot of good reports coming out of mini-camp but I haven't seen anything recently.

I saw a very minor blurb, I think from one of the posters here that was at camp. And another one somewhere else, and I can't remember where, or which said what, so I'm probably mixing it up. Also I had a dream I read a blurb, so some of that might be mixed in too. Anyway, I think I heard he looked good, had a good command of the defense, flew around and overpursued some.

But yeah, I haven't heard enough for my liking. I'm psyched to see him this week. At this point in his career all I need to see from him is big effort and a lot of intensity. And I think we'll get it.

What about Reggie Dunn? He's another guy that I was really interested in but I've not seen anyone talking about him.

He can catch a punt with 4 balls in his hands but can't catch a spiral from the qb is what I read.

dunn also has been scolded by MT for catching punts inside the 10, and not catching them allowing them to be downed deep. all fixable stuff.

    Link?

I'd heard that Sly has moved permanently to OLB. But that was a while ago. Everything I've read sounds like Mcfadden will make the team as an inside backer.

I haven't seen much about Williams. Here's a blurb from Jim Wexell's column yesterday morning:

    3. Vince Williams, the rookie sixth-rounder out of Florida State, jumped from fourth-team to second-team buck backer on Sunday. He’s supposed to be a run-stopper only but in the backers-on-backs drill earlier that day he covered fullback Will Johnson down the field and broke up a touchdown pass.

Williams hasn't wowed anyone in camp yet, but he is calling the defensive plays on the 2nd team, which has got to be taken as a good thing.

I see it as the cupboard wasn't as bare as most thought, and rookies are still rookies. i'd expect sly and McFadden to be better at this stage. can they outplay foote is the question. I thought McFadden was close to making the team last year.

I agree 58, his tackling can be fixed. remember our 1st round pick Timmons took quite awhile to see the field on a consistant basis. it's not an easy defense to play for middle backers. butler may be the hardest on players seeing the field until they are ready for his liking. it paid off for Timmons.
