Not at all a fan . PFF is Pfffft to me but here is their explanation as it pertains to MG high grade.

I call BS on this because if TJ has a game with sacks and MG is skunked MG still gets the better grade. I need someone who is a great deal smarter than me to explain it..

Below Jack Sawyer is closer to Myles Garrett then Garrett is to TJ Watt LOL

What a crock of ****. Garrett had a really good game. He was able to defeat his blockers, but by the time he had done so Mr darkness retreat had already gotten rid of the ball so Garrett couldn’t affect the play.

He wasn’t able to beat his blockers in time to affect the play, but he still won the rep. That seems an awful lot like a participation trophy to me.

I think PFF stands for Pansy Flag Football. I was even nice enough to use the word Pansy instead of my initial thought.

He played fine. There's definitely something to be said for quick throws and not being able to affect those, but its not like we ran away from him (and had some success running right at him too). Not every solid game is going to jump off the box score, but I think it's hard to say he played "great". Especially for someone that has won a DPOY award (even if it was highly debatable at the time as to whether or not his season warranted the award). He probably simply did his job just fine, he wasn't able to get pressures or sacks because we threw a lot of quick hitters, but he could've impacted the game more in other areas too.

I wouldn't have issue with a 77 rating for his game.... That actually seems right. Played well, but just wasn't able to impact the game. I was more reacting to the supposed "stat change" to 90 that someone else mentioned (if that even happened). PFF considers a 90 grade "elite". I think its hard to argue that he had an "elite" game when he wasn't able to impact the game at all. "Elite" to me means there was impact even if they game planned against him. You can play "good" and have a relatively small statistical impact, but not "elite".... Though, that is just my opinion. They seem to have a very arbitrary "win/loss" metric based off of disengaging from a block in a certain amount of time. Kinda makes me wonder if someone can "win" a rep, but run themselves out of a play that gains 10+ yards.

PFF is fine enough as a specific data point, but I really don't take it as an "end all/be all". It can reinforce opinions/beliefs, but I don't think its a true indicator of where your beliefs should lie.

Two tackles(none solo) no qb pressures, no sacks, no passes defended, but according to them he had a better game than 5 solo tackles, sack, however many pressures and passes defenses. You can try to slice it anyway you want it’s bull****

That's what I'm saying. I'm fine with him having a "good" rating of 77, but not an "elite" one of 90. No way.
