Is Rudolph playing better because the O-line has solidified a bit? He seems to have more time to go through progressions, whereas KP and MT seemed to have defenders in their face much more often. Or is he just that much better?

I used to wonder about Watt dropping into coverage, as it seemed a waste of his pass rushing talents, but I think on the play where Herbig strip sacked, Watt dropped right into the zone where the QB was looking to pass and contributed to the sack. Maybe trying to confuse the QB by having Watt NOT rush can be effective?

    1. Rudolph is playing like a real NFL QB so everyone looks better. Trub and, his clone, Pickett just were so bad, they brought down everyone’s play.

    2. No opinion.

Pickett takes care of the ball and doesn't throw off his back foot, so he's not a Trubisky clone. More importantly, has already shown he can make the key throws with the game on the line late, something Trubisky failed to do against the Patriots.

Rudolph got two starts against terrible defenses. He has had better protection than the other two quarterbacks had this season. He also had a running game go over 200 yards to help him out today. Did last week's performance help set some things up against the Seahawks? Sure. The same can be said of the first game against the Bengals, when Pickett carved them up, set up things or the second meeting between those teams. They were so focused on not getting gouged by Freiermuth again that they stupidly kept giving Pickens one-on-one matchups.

There were plenty of times when Pickett and Trubisky had time to throw and they didn't go thru their progressions. Pickett is better than Trubisky. Pickett played the same crummy defense in Cincy and didn't do as much.

Kenny never has had a full game. Essentially Kenny is playing at the level of a competent backup. Trubisky just flat out stinks.

I will go to my grave never understanding why the Steelers got Trub the dud? With are two stud running backs who decided to kick it into high gear (for incentives?) and Mason under center we'd have had a good year in a really strong AFCN.

I guess the Coaches know best??? Mason has another game in Baltimore the NFL will take notice and he may give us a big F U.

‘huge amounts of straw men in those arguments.

mason’s play is making the offense look good - not the other way around. Mason has over 10 yards per attempt, that’s simply great. He’s hitting long pass after long pass by having a strong/anccurate arm, good pocket presence, reading the defense and not ****ting his pants after his first read is covered. Neither Trub or his clone have done any of that.

He had a ton of starting experience in Chicago, had decent stats in Buffalo in limited opportunities, was a high pick, talented, is mobile, and was affordable.

Mason stands in the pocket and throws the ball down the field, Pickett drifts too much leading to sacks, you notice no drama from Pickens or Diontae the last two games.

Kind of odd that this looked like a team in turmoil in the locker room and on the field then a third string QB takes over and running game looks like a beast and receivers seem happy as hell to be able to leg it out. What next, Cole has a perfect game of snaps? :) And the Punting game got a big boost since Mason puts together drives.

Mason wants a job in the NFL.
Aside from that, he is an aggressive passer. He was drafted because of his deep ball accuracy.
Mason has a list of "Bone-headed Football Follies" but has played pretty well here of late.
Many of his early games looks like Mitch II - leading to the "Duck" thing.

Kenny, a 2nd year guy, maybe has too much focus on not turning the ball over, as he did early on.
He has to step it up a notch. The bench may be some incentive.

I feel like we should be glad that Mason is keeping us in the playoff race.
Maybe he defies his recorded history.
