    Almost in no order:

    1. Layne Staley. GOAT His vocals live felt like they were going through me. It was weird to me that such a thin guy had so much power in his voice. And emotion, and pain.

    2. Chris Cornell. Especially on the old SG albums, Badmotorfinger and Louder than Love.

    3. Rob Halford. 70's stuff stands the test of time.

    4. Chelsea Wolfe. Favorite new singer. Doomy folk music.

    5. Mike Patton. Can do whatever he wants.

FYI It doesnt have to be rock. Any genre is fine.

IMO. It was the combination of Jerry Cantrell, and Layne Staley that made it sound good. Some don't realize this. Though Outside of Football there is nothing more important 2 me than Music. We Use 2 cover AIC. You would be surprised how much Jerry Cantrell sang on every song.

Solid list. I like Brent Hinds vocals the best in Mastodon, though. JMO. Its funny because i didnt like them at first listen.

As far as AIC and Jerry goes, he also wrote many of the lyrics. He deserves a ton of credit. Cantrell definitely was a vital cog in the AIC wheel. Haha! BUT.....quite a few songs or parts of songs where you THINK its them both singing are really just Layne layering his own vocals. And Layne had way more power, in his prime, of course. And he brought it live!

70's Heart ruled! I believe Ann was the main singer. Dark hair.

Save Geddy Lee for the top 5 bass players list. Haha!

Not think my friend, but I get this a lot from L.S. fans. Yes they did layer L.S. Vocals, and also layered it with Cantrell. I have also seen them live.

Only thing I didn't like about Rush, and I mean the only thing was Geddys vocals. I can only take them a bit at a time.

    I believe you're correct,
Geddy can be behind John Entwhistle and Paul McCartney

They did both, for sure. And they both sounded great when they harmonized together, no doubt. But make no mistake, there is no AIC without LS. GOAT status! :coolcool:

Again, taking nothing away from Cantrell. There is no AIC without him either.

    Robert Plant: no explanation needed

David Gilmour/Roger Waters: yes I’m cheating a bit here, but I think Gilmour and Waters were at their best when providing contrasts within a song, for example in Comfortably Numb and Mother Waters’ vocals during the verse convey the desperation of the main character “Pink” as he slips from reality, and then Gilmour comes in for the refrain with soothing vocals of Mother enabling Pink’s demise. They were also great handling songs on their own, but when I bought The Wall when I was 11 or 12 years old, the vocals on those songs made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

Russell Allen: great all around rock/metal singer fronting Symphony X out of New Jersey. He has a great range from gritty to powerful depending on the style of the song.

Geddy Lee: YES, I said it.

Derek Dick aka Fish: Fish was the lead singer and lyricist for the British prog band Marillion until the mid 80’s. His vocals and lyric writing in those early years of the band were amazing.

    In no particular order:

    • David Gilmour
    • David Lee Roth (not the very best singer, but a great showman)
    • Dave Mustaine (again, not the very best singer, but perfect for their music)
    • Sting
    • Gary Cherone

Edit: Didn't mean to make it mostly a "Dave" list, but that's how it worked out :lolol:

You are playing with the Geddy Lee correct??
Also ...Why did you get 2 have a combo With Pink Floyd??...even though I can't argue it.

    1. Sort of joking on Geddy Lee, though I am a huge Rush fan, and I think the uniqueness of Geddy’s voice is key to their sound. But of course there’s no reasonable argument that can be made that he’s a Top 5 rock vocalist.
    2. I’m a mod. If I want to combine Gilmour and Waters, well damn it, I just do it!

Huge fan of Rush also. I just think if one other person sang 2 split up the vocals they would have been even cooler.
I'm a huge fan of multiple singers. Most My favorite bands have them. Kiss, Allman Brothers, Mastodon, Pink Floyd, and Doobie Brothers. I can listen 2 all them more than most others because of more Keys played in, and differentiate of music for each singer.
If I could form a band again I would have as many singers as possible.

It was cool in the early 2000's (not sure if before or after Rick Wright passed) but David Bowie joined Gilmour on stage and joined in on Comfortably Numb and Arnold Layne. So awesome. :thumbs up:
