Too YOUNG on offense?

It may seem like an odd question, but is it possible this team is actually TOO young at the skill positions? It seems that the most consistent players are ones that have been in the league a few years. Heath will generally catch anything that is near him, and Cotchery always seems to fight for the ball and make an effort on every play. While there's no doubting the speed that Wallace, Sanders and Brown have, perhaps this team really needs more consistent play from the veterans? With the slide they have been on as of late, why not at least try something different? Why not start Plex and Cotchery next week and put Brown in the slot? If it doesn't work, make an adjustment in game (shocking!) to different receivers. What could it hurt to try?
On a side note, I wish Ben wouldn't lead his WRs to slaughter. I know they are paid to make the catch, but I knew that Sanders was going to get creamed as soon as that pass was thrown.

I think there's a lot to be said for the feel of an offense. The last two superbowls we won on that never say die attitude where, as long as we were in touching distance of the other team, and had 2 minutes on the clock, you could be confident we would do something.

That attitude has not been the same since the Green Bay superbowl loss, and now you've got a lot of players on the offense who weren't part of those comeback hero teams. A few people were noting yesterday during the game the dropping of heads, lack of urgency etc.

Though, I should add: The whole reason the teams of a few years ago had that comeback hero thing was because they often did very little during the first 3 quarters...

They needed to get Cotchery on the field more yesterday. I'm not so sold on Burress yet - he has the potential to make an impact, and above that he has the experience that the younger ones don't have of making the splash play on a big stage BUT I'm not sure we can expect him to return to the Plax of 5 years ago from the off.

(And I also thought Ben's choices were sometimes a little off - in particular one where he threw to Heath, who was half-covered, when Redman was open right next to him. Overall, of course, we wouldn't have been in the game at all if Ben wasn't there, though)

Okay, I will agree with you to a certain extent about Plex. But, we really don't know WHAT we have in him right now because he has seen very limited action. Maybe he's no better than what they're currently putting on the field. Could it hurt to try though?

I'm not necessarily saying that I think they should get rid of Brown/Wallace/Sanders, but I do think that they all need to polish their skills (and hold on to the ball).
