I believe he has completed 6 years so this year would still be at 1.08 but next year is 1.68 plus escalation

    It’s years of experience

And he will get more than a 1 year contract so you need to look at both numbers escalate and go from there

My old man is 71 and came over to watch the game with guarded excitement. Couldn’t even make it until halftime before he went home. I hope I see another playoff win I doubt he will. At least he got to see the 70s dynasty though.

I miss watching games with my dad so cherish it while you can

Although there is not a snowballs chance in hell my dad would leave before the game was over

Pickett was a 1st round pick so he will be the #1 going in. That's just how it goes. Tomlin said they will bring in competition.

Get rid of Mitch the Pick first and foremost. What a waste! IF they can retain Mason you sign him. And its not going to be cheap or take a one year flyer. He has earned that. Saved the season. And brought a fire under the Offense.

Hopefully the new OC can rectify Pickett's career providing he is the 2024 starter. But i'm sorry that's NOT a given. If they retain Mason I believe he will be the Starter.

If Mason bolts they do have to bring in competition.

And this Justin Fields talk is a joke. Not for our 1st rounder!

In principle, I agree with you. But in reality, Tomlin has to play QB politics. Tomlin said he would like to have Rudolph back. He cannot be completely honest that Rudolph is the better QB, because it wouldn't make any sense to do so, especially if Rudolph ended up leaving.

    Tomlin lied to Blount
    He lied to Harrison.

    He will lie to Rudolph.

the market will bear what it will bear.

    we will see....

Exactly. The Fields talk is idiotic. Why on earth would we want him.

I think it's just talk. I don't think he'd be much of an upgrade even over Trubisky

If Mason doesn't get a giant offer... Pittsburgh will resign him.
The focus is still going to be o Pickett.
This will be Mason's 7th year, he hasn't really shined.
Neither has stepped up the Franchise Level.
But a new (good) OC is going to work with Pickett as #1 out of the box.

I have been watching the Steelers for over 55 yrs they have said no to Peazy, no to Faneca, what makes people so sure that mason even wants to come back? And if some bonehead owner throws Mason A large contract maybe Steelers can't match it.

I'll root like hell for Kenny but If I'm being brutally honest, I don't think he's the answer. Sure, better line play and a modern coordinator will help. Ultimately, I think the brain trust is going to be wheeling and dealing for a franchise type QB in 2025. The Next One isn't on the roster yet in my opinion.

Then he will be lying to Pickens, Johnson, the o-line, rbs. as well. Plus, lying to himself.

I don't think he minds lying to himself, as long as those big paychecks keep rolling in

That, or he still thinks Pickett is the better long-term option. He did say that his view of Rudolph changed over the past month, but that doesn't mean they think he can be their starter in the long run.

This assumes everything Blount and Harrison said is true, which is a dubious assumption. I suspect they both heard what they wanted to hear rather than what they were actually told.

I know.... I spent a number of years on the outside looking in.... (Pittsburgh was my birth and you've probably seen 'dad' stories I've added.... from the late 40's early 50's...)
Anyway, Pittsburgh was always getting robbed of their players via FA.
You want a real LB, go sign a Steeler LB.
    The short version, I agree.....
