Tomlin can't even properly release a depth chart. Disaster brewing.

There was no "clerical error" Their plan blew up in their face. We paid a lot of money for a bridge. Used a 1st on the hometown hero who wants to play now and the fans want it too. Then we got a player we've developed and strung a long for so long. Every team knows this and won't give up proper compensation for him. Also, we can't trade him to anybody in the AFC or any contenders. He knows too much. Like I've been saying for months... this whole thing is a disaster brewing. Yesterday was a perfect example. When has that ever happened?

    So what's the disaster ?

The only disaster was letting Rudolph hit the field wearing black and gold.

If they can get a 6th for Rudolph they should take it. He is going to be a free agent at the end of the year and the Steelers will get nothing then. If you get a 6th from a team like the Lions, then it is basically a late 5th round pick.

Dude seriously get you some Browns apparel, and move on from the team you can’t say one thing positive about.

I dont think it was a clerical error. It was intentional to indulge two of Tomlin’s guilty pleasures:

    1) Jerking around Mason Rudolph
    2) Making the local media run around like mad dogs

    Win-win. Two birds, one stone.

Im no expert on how they do the formula, and no MR is not going to get you a 3rd comp pick..but atvthis point let it ride..his departure will figure in, so take your chances.

If yiu sign a rookie or a vet to a minimum you save a couple million. The money is really insignificant at this point

My take, Who cares if it was a mistake? Who cares if it wasn’t. It does not change the fact of no matter who is in the game or standing on the sidelines, we will be rooting for them to lead us down the field.

But then again there are some on here that just hope someone doesn’t play well, so they can come and make a topic about it and also bring it up in 15 other topics.

Who did they pay a lot of money too? TJ Watt, Minka, or maybe DJ? Hell I am pretty sure our Kicker is making more than the starting QB this year.

Mitch's has a $1 million salary with a cap hit of $3.6 million, so you can't be talking about him. Ben's cap hit this year is over $10 million.

i don't know if it's a disaster but it doesn't look good to make make a 'clerical error' on such a high profile position.

Sometimes I wonder if the "Lone Gunmen" are posting here (ref: X-Files)

Mason signed a 2-year $6mil contract extension last season.
He fell short of establishing himself as a franchise QB.
Had they thought of him as the solution based off his prior contract, he would have gotten a lot more.
I feel reasonably sure there was some explanations on why such an extension.

Mason has done well in his regulated role.
I can't imagine he likes it, but he's been all-pro at accepting it.

If a starter goes down for a team that is weak in the QB dept behind the starter, Mason is probably in the conversation as best available.
In that scenario, the question is what does Pittsburgh want?
I could easily see Pittsburgh keep him for the season.

I did not hear the question asked by any reporters at the presser, but was curious when Mason knew he was going to be 3rd string.

Standing around doing nothing and getting paid 3 million dollars would take the sting out of being too pissed off.

Sdot: We should all boycott the NFL.

Message board: ok how do we do that?

Sdot: show up every day on message boards, buy NFL merchandise, watch all the games you can, attend games if possible and finally express numerous times how unhappy you are, that you are boycotting and you're done. It's easy who's with me?

    Message board: *crickets*

Therein lies another good reason to keep him, that O-line did not look great and it might be our starting QB is down.
    That would suck, no doubt.
In short, he's a serviceable backup for ~$3 mil for a year.
