Your allowed your opinions also, Dan was awseome. Pretty tough man to follow, I want to win and win big
also like so many other Steeler fans. I hope our time is coming? If they do not fire MT which I don't
think will happen, it is imperative that Kahn and Weidl strip him of powers. Their hire of the next OC/play caller
and offensive position coaches is the biggest decision they will make this offseason. They cannot miss on this hire.
With a very possible young QB room they need to bring in people that can get these qb's and offense playing at high level. And continue to build roster to compete.

The steelers will make very few change if they make the playoffs even if they are one and done

What's the point of keeping him if you strip him of his powers? If a guy that's been here 17 years can't be trusted, again then what's the point?

The rate he is trending I don’t think no playoff wins for the next decade is nearly as ridiculous as you think.

Nothing will change; the Steelers will not be contenders again until there is regime change in Pittsburgh.

Let's do the side of the spectrum, (for arguments sake) you worked your arse off for 17 years, what's your inspiration to stay if you get your powers stripped away?

With that said good chatting, hope you and your family and loved ones have a Merry Christmas!

Well I believe they will extend him not my wish. So do you trust him to make the next hires? I don't. Maybe he balks at having less power and decides to walk away.

And he doesn't have the best track record in hiring assistant coaches. He came into the league and was told he would retain the great Dick LeBeau and Bruce Arians would become OC. Worked out pretty well. Then he was told that Todd Haley was going to take over for Arians.

He needs to be hands off on the hire of the next Offensive Coordinator. And some changes on the defensive staff as well. I don't feel that his defenses or schemes have been all that.

They should have kept Flores. But him being a previous head coach to me was a bit of a threat. Plus he is power hungry.

Khan and Weidl will try to right the ship. They have showed in their first year together they made things happen which was a breath of fresh air. Plus Khan has been with the Steelers longer then Tomlin so i believe he has a voice.

    Chiefs 9-6
    Steelers 8-7

Save your comparisons, I know there is a world between the two teams but with injuries and everything we have gone through, it could be a hell of a lot worse. Patrick’s contract is starting to cut deep.

I wonder if teams are going to start to think before dumping so much money into one person

He played like hot garbage and that really bothers me. He does things that if any other QB did it, they would get chastised. The interception he threw that got called incomplete was one of the most idiotic plays I've seen in a long time, by any player.

Even if the Steelers bring a hot shot OC who turns the offense around, he would probably be gone in a couple of years for a head coaching job. They need to bring in an offensive minded HC, IMO.

Ok I’m trying to make sense out of this

You would rather not bring in a OC who does well and leaves but would rather bring in someone no one will want in couple of years

    Fantastic logic

Maybe you didn’t read the whole post or didn’t comprehend what I am saying. I want a HC who will run the offense like Stefanski, McDonald, Reid etc.

They will circumvent the cap somehow, how does SF pick up
the guy from Redskins. The ego' s are so big in pro sports
there are people that really believe they can souround a team
around a few good players and win it all. I don't .

Assuming you're talking about Chase Young, he's still under his rookie contract and was acquired via trade. That kept his signing bonus proration ($5.7M) in Washington, with SF picking up only the base salary ($1M).

That aside, the 49ers have the most cap space in the league this year ($38M under); no one on the team has a cap hit north of $12.5M. That begins to change next year, but there's a lot of young talent on that team right now.

What does Mccaffery get? You mean he is not North of 12.5?

McCaffrey is a steal for the 49ers this season in terms of cap accounting, taking up just $3.4M of space. When the Panthers traded him the bonus prorations from his extension in 2020 stayed with them (to the tune of over $18M in dead money this season), while the Niners took on $690k in base salary for the remainder of 2022, along with his $11.8M, $11.8M, and $12.0M base amounts for 2023-25.

During the draft they restructured his contract to free up cap space this season, converting $10.7M of his base to signing bonus and adding two void years to the end of his contract. That resulted in the $3.4M number for 2023, with the next two seasons now scheduled to be $14.1M and $14.4M, along with $4.3M of dead money in 2026 when the void years are triggered.
