Thoughts on a new Head Coach

Paige Spiranic would be an excellent choice. She stays abreast of everything happening in the NFL, she can milk the best effort out of every player. She is certainly no boob when it comes to football.

I thought the Steelers might take their time but I suppose they want this done relatively quickly? Well in advance of the draft?

 

I just hope everyone is patient with the new coaching staff. This is the most depleted roster a new coach has had to work with since Chuck Noll took over from Bill Austin in 1969. But a good new coaching staff with a boat load of draft picks can hopefully turn things around in a hurry.

 

I thought they could contact a coach that's in the playoffs through Zoom.

 

How many All-Pros were on New England and Seattle when their current HC took over? It won't take long to fix the Steelers roster a good amount of money to spend in free agency along with 12 draft picks.

Noll, Cowher, and Tomlin were all hired before the end of January. Add to that the fact that they are competing with 8 other teams for the same position. It would make some sense to have some urgency. But Rooney did say there were rules in place 'to slow the process'. Not sure what that means.

 

If one of the candidates they want goes to the SB maybe? Idk. I would bet we would have a new coach by the SB.

 

Good point. The longer the decision the more likely that might be the case.

 

I'm not smart enough to say who they should hire as head coach. I assume it will be a young guy, but, I'm leaving the door open for an older coach like Saleh. Not Saleh, like Saleh. Did the Rooney in charge now hire MT? If not, he may think a little different.

One thing I will say firmly, they have got to get that check book out and pay top money for assistants. It may have been here that I read they are kind of cheap. OC, DC, and position coaches need paid well. With all these openings, most of these coaches talk. They know the owners that are cheap and those that pay well.

 

One big difference he drafted Drake Maye who is a MVP candidate in his second year. There is only one franchise QB in this year's draft and he will go to the Raiders with pick #1. Dante Moore announced he is staying in school next year.

 

Vrabel didn't draft Maye; he inherited him so he's winning with Jerod Mayo's players .

 

No Dan Rooney hired Cowher and Tomlin and probably had a hand in hiring Noll. That's the big question now, this is Art 2 first HC hiring coming up. I'm not as confident in him as I was with Dan.
