I get the money side, but these are also competitors at the highest level. At their core they want to not just cash a check but be a part of leading their team to victory, especially in a crucial game against a division rival. He and every one of his teammates know his actions are keeping his talents on the sidelines, potentially letting them all down in the process.

SCN brought up a great point though about Pickens. The last time he lost this many games was his senior year in High School. They lost 3 and in the Semis of the Play-offs.

He goes to Georgia and in his 3 years they lost a total of 5 games.

All this kid is used to is success not a hint of real struggle to get things going and meshing while losing games. He has to figure it out now, it's easy to be all in when things go your way, much harder when you keep getting hit with a 2x4 in the mouth while losing or not doing much back.
