The Rams have Kupp, Robert Woods, and OBJ. You really want DJ, JuJu, and Claypool over them. The Chiefs have Hill, Pringle, and Hardman. Cowboys are a wash?

Not that PFF is the final word but BEFORE the season started they had the Steelers ranked 19th. DJ improving since then is more than offset by Claypool's regression. JuJu wants back? I'll bet you he doesn't come back either because the Steelers want to move on or he wants to go somewhere with a more dynamic offense. I don't know they're 19th, but neither are they 9th best either. They're average. Not a glaring weakness, but not a strength either, imo

Unfortunately, I do not foresee another option currently in the FA Market. Jayron Kearse?? Maybe... but there is another major component to the Edmunds resigning; continuity. A tired term I know but, having that level of familiarity among Safeties is essential for an NFL Pass Defense.

Recall back during the 2015-2018 years where there was no such concept to exist; the results that often followed. I seriously doubt Tomlin wants to see that again. For that matter, let us also assume that, somehow, someway, the Steelers are in position to draft Kyle Hamilton. While I personally would be jumping up and down for such a talented player, he sadly is not the one this team needs to assist them in the area they need it most. Tyler Linderbaum is; take your pick for a close second as said choice can go any number of ways.

Overall though, I am not saying... I am just saying.

I think OBJ is a negative and Woods is OK. Kupp is awesome.

Also Stafford pads WR stats like Ben did 6 years ago

    I ignore PFF.

That’s the second time you’ve claimed that. Why do they give him a pass?

Absolutely! Tomlin is quite the wordsmith and I think he could be the next great color analyst, ranking right up there with Madden and Gruden.

For the record then: You would rather have DJ, JuJu, and Claypool than Kupp, Woods, and OBJ?

Yeah because those Steelers receivers cost about $11M and the Rams receivers cost about $33M (OBJ will be gone next year because Woods and Kupp cost about $32M).

I'd take Juju, DJ and Claypool for less than the Rams pay Robert Woods. Dumb right?

I'll grant you value, but that doesn't change that they're average. it's not a glaring weakness like other positions but it's really not a strength either.

PFF ranked Kupp as the 30th best WR... 1 spot behind Woods.

Diontae isn't on the list despite being arguably the 2nd most productive WR in the AFC.

This guy does the PFF WR rankings:

Not that this matters, but this thread IRT MT accomplishes d!ck. No owner is going to hire a coach to run a multi million dollar organization that isn't good. Can we all agree on that? Once the hire is done, that is where each coach distinguishes himself by running a program that is an improvement over the coach that they fired to make the current hire. Each team is different and so are the owners. How long a HC gets to the point that his improvements are paying off varies greatly from Meyer to Tomlin. Each team's owner may have different goals as to what defines success and what requires terminating the coach. McCarthy won a SB, fired. Pederson won a SB, fired. Their time was up with their respective teams and shown the door. I believe our situation is unique as the Rooney's hold all the cards and pull all the strings and nothing on this message board is going to change that. Saying that, Tomlin has been around because he was hired being a good coach, has served the Steelers honorably, and met the owners' criteria for continued service. I believe MT's sell by date has expired but that isn't knock on him, its just what it is, to me, a nobody who's not an owner. MT is driven either by what he is told, or, he is fixed on a routine way of running the program and adapting to changing conditions is not on his menu. So let's face the reality of where we are. MT has a contract extension that will not be short lived. So, bitching about him being around doesn't really matter. Each fan will believe what they want to believe regarding why he is still around but the one reason that is indisputable is ARII. I personally don't believe we will see another PO win until we have a HC/ culture change and I hope that is before the end of times. In the meantime, I'll suck it up and support as best I can. My question was why does the national media always seem to give Tomlin a pass? I think that’s a fair question. The writer of this article absolves Tomlin of ALL blame. During the game, Romo and Nantz seemed to deflect the blame away from Tomlin because he’s “never had a losing record”. TOMLIN IS THE HEAD FREAKING COACH OF THIS TEAM AND SHOULD BE BLAMED FOR THE ISSUES THE STEELERS ARE CURRENTLY HAVING, WHICH ARE MANY AND DIVERSE! I’m just kinda tired of all of the kid glove commentators who want to give Tomlin a pass. I’m not saying Tomlin sucks or that the Steelers should fire him, but he deserves plenty of the blame. The problem is that many of these issues are getting baked into the cake of the culture and the only way to change that is to bring in new leadership with a new culture. That’s no knock on Tomlin. Noll’s time came, Cowher’s time came, Tomlin’s time will come and may be here now.

Agree, heard on sports radio hosts saying Tomlin needs complete new staffs on both sides of ball, which they do

BUT if doing that bring in new HC n start fresh
As OP noted he lost this year's team n "game plans" are HS bad

If Steelers fans demand a change it will happen. I've been wanting the Steelers to change coaches since the loss to Denver. That used to get tremendous pushback but not any more. I feel like I'm in the majority at this point. Being complacent and reticent won't result in a coaching change. I won't buy any Steelers gear until there's a change.

His point is then you are still supporting the team.

There is an element of truth in it, too. I believe the Rooney's want to win and their record bears that out. They also like making money. Clearly, one begets the other. If fans want to make a statement, then stop watching. When the Rooney's aren't hitting their numbers, then they will do something. Beyond that, raising hell about it on a message board amounts to nothing. I use the Pirates as my personal example. I refuse to watch them on TV or listen to them on the radio until one of two things happen; Bob Nutting sells the team to an owner that wants to win or Nutting decides he wants to spend the money to win. I refuse to be one of these Bozo's that continually call area Pittsburgh talk shows playing the "if" game every spring. Stop watching them, listening to them, buying their merch and going to the games.
